[Day: Saturday, February 8th. Time: 8:30 p.m.] [Weather: It's cold and overcast. Supposed to snow tonight.] [Katie is somewhere at home, doing whatever she does! Tomorrow's the funfun trip to Tokyo Disney! (X.x)] [Mini start] * Katie is, actually, sitting and working *very* carefully on a delicate carving of a wren sitting on a branch. Darned feathers. [The phone rings!] * Katie pauses to adjust the lamp and gets back to- oh, phone. * Phone rings! * Katie jumps to her feet and races to the family room phone. "" * Phone rings again! * Katie picks up the phone, being the first one there. "Hello?" Hi, I'd like to order a large cheese pizza with sausage and rice. * Katie blinks. I think you got the wrong number. Oh? Ok. Sorry. No problem. * Phone clicks on the other end. * Katie hangs up, then gets back to her room and the carving. [No sooner does Katie open the door to her room, than...] * Phone rings! * Katie sighs and turns, taking the steps to pick up the phone. "Hello?" [The nervous wreck on the other side can only be Taro.] Um, hello, um... Is this the Andrew's... um, residence? * Katie smiles and flops into the easy chair, tangling the cord as she goes. "Hi Taro." She'd recognize that nervous stuttering anywhere. Oh, Katie! H-hi... [You can just FEEL that he's rubbing his neck again.] * Katie plays with the cord, untangling it with her free hand. "What's up?" So, umm... You said to c-call, so... Well... I, um... I c-c-c... Ican'tgotoDisneytomorrowsorry! * Katie winces at the burst of noise, then tries (and fails) to decipher the fast Japanese. "What? I didn't get that." Um.... I s-said... Ican'tgotoDisneytomorrowsorry! * Katie sweatdrops. "Slow down, Taro." Oh. Okay... I, um... I have to go camping. With dad. Tomorrow. So I can't go. Um, with you. To Disney T-Tokyo. * Katie pauses. "Oh." She sounds mildly disappointed. "Well, that's okay. I know how it is with family." S-Sorry. It's all right. Don't beat yourself up over it. Besides, we can do something some other time, right? Yeah, about that... What do you want to do? * Katie smiles. "Well, there's always the normal stuff. Go to a movie, dinner, or something like that. Too bad it's winter, or we could visit some gardens or something..." R-Right. Normal stuff. * Taro chuckles uncomfortably as he dawns on what he just said. Unless you have something else in mind? Well... Um.... Not really. * Katie grins. Come on, Taro. What do you like to do? Um... Well... We could go to an ice cream parlor, maybe. Or we could visit Tokyo Tower! * Katie blinks. Tokyo Tower? Yeah. My friends say it's got a great view. Ah. Well, I guess I've never been up Tokyo Tower before... * Katie starts twisting the cord around some of her fingers. It'll be fun! * Katie doesn't respond just yet, as she's pondering. Tokyo Tower. Aww, man. * Katie snaps out of it. "Yeah. Okay, that does sound fun." She will *not* let the tarot run every aspect of her life. Great! When shall we go? * Katie smiles faintly. "There's no school on Monday, right?" Yeah. We could go then. Unless you have schoolwork to do, I mean. Nope. I've done all of mine. * Katie grins. "Then it's a date. Tokyo Tower and ice cream. When and where do you want to meet?" * Taro ponders. "Hmmm..." It's clear he didn't think that far ahead. How about near the ramen stand at school? Sure. What time? One o'clock? Sounds good. I'll meet you there. G-Great! I'll, uh, see you then. * Katie blinks as she remembers something. "Oh yeah, and Taro?" Yeah? About the kendo club... you guys practice on Wednesdays, right? Should I show up? Yes, of course! ... I mean, if you want to, that is... * Katie smiles. "Sure I do." ( Y'know, I should take more note of when these things run, and who goes where :P ) Okay! Yeah, we meet Wednsdays, and... yeah. And I'll see about joining. I hope they don't mind. Oh, they won't we've got a few girls already, so... * Katie nods, though Taro can't see it. "Yeah. Then it'll probably be fine. I'm just nervous." Y-Yeah... [Silence is heard!] (Eep!) ( ... Not that kind of silence :P ) Well, anyhow... (Oh, whew. ^_~) I guess I'd better go... Okay. See you on Monday? Y-Yeah. Bye * Katie smiles. "Bye." * Taro hangs up! * Katie hangs up, too. She gently untangles the cord from her fingers, then hops to her feet, humming as she heads back to her room and the carving. [As Katie gets halfway up the stairs...] * Phone rings! * Katie blinks. * Katie backtracks to the phone and picks up. "Hello?" [When Katie answers the phone, she hears what sounds like white noise, and a very, very faint voice.] * Katie blinks. "I'm sorry, I can't hear you." ( make a hearing check ^^ ) (HA count?) ( yup ) 2d6-4 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Katie (2d6-4) and gets 2. (Got it.) [It's very difficult to make out the voice, but Katie picks out four fun ones! *Skkshhhhhh* "... Black..." *Sskk* "Cards..." *skshhhhhhhhh* "...oming Judgemen-" *SKSHHHHH--* (It gets real loud and painful to listen to after that.] * Katie grimaces. "What? I can't- ow!" She holds the phone away from her. [Suddenly, the white noise stops, and Katie gets that sound that happens when the other line goes dead.] * Katie stares at the phone. *Beepbeepbeepbeepbeepbeep---* * Katie dully hangs up, then stares at it a bit longer. [As Katie stares...] * Phone rings! * Katie nearly jumps off her chair, snatches the phone off its hook. "" she snaps. [There's a yelp of surprise, followed by "Ah! Did I get the wrong number?! That's so uncool! I'm sorry!"] [It's obviously Chikako on the other end :P] * Katie blinks and switches to Japanese. "Oh! Sorry Chikako. You got the right number. I think." Oh. Cool! ... I think. You were calling Katie, right? * Katie grins. Yeah.... This IS Katie, isn't it? * Katie laughs. "Yes." Ok, cool. I just wanted to remind you about the cool trip we have planned for tomorrow. Cool? It's cool. I'll be there, but Taro can't come. Oh. That's not so cool. It looks like we've got eight people going, though. Eight's a cool number. Say, is everything cool with you? You sounded a bit, um, angry when you picked up the phone. Yeah? Who's going? Um... kind of. I just got a creepy phone call, is all. Oh. It's probably just a prank by some uncool kid. Uncool stuff like that happens all the time. And here I was hoping Japan would be different. * Katie flops back into the chair. "So, who else is going?" * Chikako pauses to remember. "You, and me, which is cool. Taki and Satoshi, which is also cool. Kyon, of course. He's so cool! Kaede, but not his crush. That woulda been cool, but it can't be helped. Kaede's sister, also cool, 'cause we get to meet her for the first time, and Haruko's also cool to go." * Katie grins as she picks up the new bit of information. "Kaede has a crush?" Uh-huh! ... Um, but I'm not supposed to tell anyone. It wouldn't be cool. That's okay. I'm just surprised. I didn't thik he was interested in anybody. * Chikako giggles. "Guess he's not the type to show it. I think it's cool!" Definitely cool. Maybe I'll get to meet her sometime. Unless it's someone I already know, but I'm not sure who. Hmm... Well, you might. She goes to our school, so that's cool. Yeah. Hm. Oh well. I'm sure he'll tell me if he wants to. So we've got eight people going? Mm-hmm! A full house. This'll be fun. Yeah, it'll be so cool! * Katie grins. "Okay, then. I'll be there." Cool! I'll see ya tomorrow! Yup! See you. Cool! Bye! * Chikako hangs up! * Katie hangs up, too. * Katie doesn't stand right away, though. She eyes the phone for a bit. * Phone rings almost as soon as Katie hangs up! * Katie picks up the phone. "Hello?" Hi, I'd like to order a large cheese pizza with sausage and rice. Wrong number. Oh. Sorry. * Phone hangs up :P * Katie hangs up, too. :P * Katie goes back to eyeing the phone. "" * Phone would sweatdrop, but it's just a phone, so it makes no response. * Katie nods and stands, then heads to her room. She's got thinking to do. And carving. [Mini end]
