<> <> <> <> * Ian knocks on the door. Knock knock! * Leopoldo walks over from channel surfing to answer the door, checking the peephole first. "Good day, Ian." he says as he opens the door. * Ian waves hello. "'afternoon!" He has apparently just returned from a wild party at the city clerk's office, as he's wearing a buttondown and beige trousers, and there's confetti in his hair. * Leopoldo chuckles. "Can't go without partying, can you?" He's wearing his same, boring attire. * Ian blinks. "Hm?" And then looks up and brushes off some confetti, and smiles. "Ah, it was my cousin's birthday." * Leopoldo steps out, confirming that he has his key as he closes the door. "Ah. Maybe I should meet them some time?" You all set to go shopping? Yeah, got everything on me. Sure! Everyone in the family loves guests. (Whose ship are we taking, now?) (We need to decide that. :P) * Leopoldo nods. "Where to first, and whos ship do you want to take to Earth?" <> Hmm...we can take mine. We might as well get food last, so let's see...what all are we going to need? (The GM assumes correctly.) Well, we're going to need, hmmm... Clothing to fit in, although I don't know too much wat to expect... From what I hear, fitting in's going to be tough. * Leopoldo nods. "I speak fluent Earthese, actually." <> * Ian raises an eyebrow. "Oh! Excellent, that should help a lot." But, that's all from my upbringing. My parents thought I should get a 'proper' education. I speak some, although it's been a while...it'll take me a while to get back in form. I can help you get back up to speed of course. But that's off topic... What kind of supplies does your ship have? * Ian grins. "Thanks. Well, it's not all that fast, as what I mostly do is live in it when I'm writing and need isolation. It has a full kitchen, even. It would take about three days to get to Earth from here...hmm. Is yours faster?" * Leopoldo nods. "Would take me about two days. Might be bigger too, but I'm not sure by how much." Yours might be a better choice, then. Mine could hold everyone, but it would be pretty cramped. Yeah, it would be a better choice in that case. I don't have a skimmer, though. And... We probably should have some exos too. You have an exo? Just a very light one. Well, as long as it lets ya breathe in space, thats all you'd need it for. It's on your ship, right? * Ian nods. We can pick it up later, then. <> (A location at which we could procure materials required or desired for our venture.) (So, um... Where? ^^;) <> The Mall (as Ian pronounces, with the capitals in) should have it...if not, we can try Oldtown. (Have what?) (Earth clothing!) (Ah, right. ^^;) (And badger costumes.) * Leopoldo rubs his head. "Well, let's go then. And you're not planning on picking up another redicilous costume, are you?" * Ian grins. "Not unless I find one." * Leopoldo sighs, then walks to... THE MALL! <> (Uh... which one's closer?) <> (What do you mean "to provision" anyway? >_>) (Food?) (Electric/dunnotape?) (Okay. ^_^ Clothes first, then, since they won't spoil.) (Wire coat hangars?) <> (H20!) (Er. H2O. I always do that.) (20 Hydrogen atoms in one compact molecule. :P) (Woo!) (Yeah, I know. I want to make a H20 just to confuse the hell out of people. :P) * Leopoldo walks and whistles. * Ian looks around for interesting, amusing and/or frightening goods. <> * Ian malls! Or something. * Leopoldo glances around the mall, thinking about something. "Hmmm." <> * Ian looks around the various stores for various...Earthlike stuff? (Ah! Gap!) * Leopoldo tries to do the same. <> * Ian buys a couple of basic, rather conservative outfits. <> * Leopoldo glances around, then sighs. "I forgot, I'm going to either need these tailored for me or start cutting holes in them." Hmm...I can probably do that, actually. Not too difficult. Yeah, but you have to make sure the pants don't rip all the way through. * Ian nods. "I do a lot of costume-making." * Leopoldo glances around and picks up a couple shirts and pants. "You do?" He smirks to himself. "Well, that would explain things." * Leopoldo hmmms... "What do you think? Should I go for darker or lighter?" <> "May I HELP you?" * Ian has a couple of light blue-and-white striped shirts, a gray one, and some decent trousers that are advertised as being for travellers. They have far too many pockets to be practical, but hey. Hmm...lighter is probably good, Leo. * Leopoldo puts the clothing back on the rack, glancing over at the clerk. "Maybe. But first you'd have to look at me eye-to-eye. Difficult to establish eye contact if you're looking up all the time." <> "Are you wishing to purchase some haute fashion today?" * Ian nods, and fixes a professorial gaze on the clerk. "Just a few outfits, I think. I'm not certain that this shirt will go well with these..." * Leopoldo raises an eyebrow, or would if there was actually a brow there. "Well, do you have any suggestions?" "Well, of course not! The houndstooth clashes with the corderoy, and your colors are ALL wrong." <> (But we can't see that, because his nose is in the air. How tall is he?) <> (Heh.) * Leopoldo folds his arms. * Ian nods, and looks at the selection some more. <> "These are MUCH better for those, and really, what were you even thinking?" * Ian looks over the shirts, putting two back, and considering the rest. "Hmm, these do work well..." * Leopoldo glances over, then looks back at the clothing. Hmmm... <> "And you! What a mess, I meanm really!" <> * Leopoldo laughs as the clerk wanders off. "Wow, that's only the..." counts on his fingers "Fourth time I've heard that." * Ian is smiling slightly. It's not a very nice smile, and it bodes poorly for the next time he visits this store. (Meet the dark side of RNYC. In a city full of artists you've got to have your pretentious people.) * Ian shrugs. "Well, these will work. See anything you like?" * Leopoldo glances at Ian's selection. * Ian takes a quick look at the price tags, and swaps one of the shirts for a nearly identical one that's about half the ridiculous price. "Oldest trick in the book..." <> "There! Latest fashion, all the rage! They'll do fine!" * Leopoldo eyes the man. Yeah. Right. <> "Are you DOUBTING me?" * Leopoldo stands straight up to a full 6'3". "Perhaps. Anyways, I think a lighter color would contrast better..." He reaches up and takes a light-blue shirt and a pair of brown pants. "Now, honestly. What do you think? Should I go with darker or ligher colors?" * Leopoldo hmms and overlaps the two pieces of clothing, placing his hand in the middle so he can contrast the colors better. "Hmmm, maybe I should go with black." <> Darker works for you, I think. Yeah, I think you're right. It goes better with my... unique, skin condition. * Leopoldo smiles at the clerk. "And thanks for all your help. You need help carrying those back?" <> Evidently not. * Leopoldo shrugs. "Guess not." He selects a black shirt to go with the pants, and then a pair of dark blue pants and a dark green shirt. "Well, this should work fine. Most of my other clothing should work too, which is always a plus." * Leopoldo eyes the prices, and makes sure they're well within his price range. * Ian nods. "I think we're set, then." * Leopoldo checks out! What'd that run us? * Ian pays up. <> <> (Blech. Okay.) <> Now, for food! * Leopoldo goes to the supply warehouses! "We should get some nanopacks while we're at it." <> * Ian nods. "Good plan." <> (No problem there.) * Leopoldo walks into a place that would supply nanopacks. Do they have their own store, or do they go with the hardware stores? <> <> (Ah, okay.) Hmm...any supply house you prefer? * Leopoldo glances around. "Hmmm, he's gotta be around here somewhere..." * Leopoldo nods. "Ah, there he is." He walks straight for one of the non-descript houses which has in plain letters AES above it. He enters. (Werehouses. I thought it said that.) * Ian follows Leo in. <> * Leopoldo waves. "Hey, we'd like to buy some supplies. A few nanopacks and foodstuffs. Enough to supply a group of eight for two days." * Ian nods. "Two, maybe three." "Hey, it's Mr. Grahovac. You want premade stuff or raw materials?" * Leopoldo chuckles. "Yeah, what's up man? Anyways, hmmm... Do we have anybody that can cook Ian?" * Ian grins. "Right here." Well, glad you came along then. Raw. <> "You gonna need fuel, too?" * Leopoldo smirks. "Would I be going anywhere with it?" Yeah, I need fuel. <> "Wondering if you were stocking up anyplace else. Alright, 'print here. You want it delivered to the ship?" That'd be great. And you know I'm more loyal than that. * Leopoldo puts his print down. "Right. Well, we'll have it delivered soon as possible. See you next time you come through." * Leopoldo nods. "Good luck to ya." * Ian nods. "Thanks!" <> * Leopoldo heads out. "That should be everything then, unless you want me to start teaching you how to speak Earthese." * Ian follows. "Hmm, that should do it. We'll have plenty of time during the trip, I imagine, and we can teach the others a little as well." * Leopoldo nods, then heads back to the subway, idly looking up at the stars. (I can cut here. Sleythintown isn't necessary... yet.) <>
