<> (Samuel was mugged. we took it off his corpse.) (... Well, that's one way to do it.) <> (... Why must you tempt me so. ;_;) <> (I'm a better bartender than that guy. Just like to say.) * Vera reads over the information. * Threnody was present early, and made the probable mistake of asking for a cup of tea, on which he is waiting with somewhat less than baited breath. <> <> * Katherine actually managed to get vodka, because the bartender understands the word 'Vodka', and is staring at the map as well. She hasn't actually drunk any, though. Well, it's the best we've gotten so far. * Vera looks over the map? * Fitzroy is leaning back on two legs of his chair. No drink for him at the moment. <> <> <> * Threnody looks at the tea for a moment, then sort of tangentally at the paper, then back at his tea wordlessly. * Fitzroy goes back to using four legs of the chair with a thud and takes a good look at the map. * Vera looks for a back entrence? <> <> * Katherine makes frowny faces at the map. "Not much better, though." <> (Does the fence have guard towers along it at all? ^^;) * Threnody stares into his tea, but nods all the same. "There's not much on it. It's not exactly a big installation, either, though... is it?" He is not, in fact, looking at the map. The front door's all we got? Well, I'll be dammned if we go in the same place they do. That almost defeats the purpose of having two damn groups. <> Not there... But close to it, maybe. Who's in which group? * Vera points to a corner of the fence on the same side as the front gate. "Here, maybe." There's Anders' people, there's the us that are going in, and there's the us that are staying behind. * Threnody blinks, once, and finally turns in his seat. "'The us that are staying behind'?" * Vera nods. * Katherine says while continuing to stare. "Like Roch and Deme." Right. 2d6-2 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Katherine (2d6-2) and gets 4. (... How did that happen? Made by 3. c.c;) * Threnody bites his lip. "I can see why they might not want to go, but... if they're linked to this whole affair, they might be in danger here, by themselves." <> * Vera shrugs. "Sam said something about having a van. They can drive off if they need to." And Roch has a gun, and she knows how to use it, if they really need it. * Fitzroy 's eyes wobble a bit as he plugs in his TSM machine. * Katherine smirks. "And if Leo chickens out too, hey, more defense for them and less for us." Leo should probably stay behind... except I don't know if we'll need his help moving the artifacts. <> * Threnody shakes his head. "If you want someone to stay behind with them, I'll volunteer." * Katherine stabs her finger at the northeastern part of the map. "We could try to approach from up here, from cover... well, damn, you're right. Without Leo or Deme, we'll never be able to pick up an artifact." * Vera looks over at Roy. "Likewise, Roy, I'd like you to be in the group that goes in. We'll probably run into another locked door or something." * Fitzroy nods. "I was expecting to go in, actually." I'm looking for anything more on this place.. * Vera nods. "I was hoping you would." Ian will probably come in with us. * Katherine frowns. "Well, since we're wondering about Roch and Deme... do we really think they're going to be worried about two people they don't even know are there when we're in their base?" 2d6+4 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Fitzroy (2d6+4) and gets 14. Doubtful. (... Jesus penalty.) (Penalty was +10.) But it wouldn't hurt to be careful. * Threnody looks at his drink distractedly. "Area 51... urban mythology puts the largest part of the base underground. Everything on the surface was supposed to be a government front." * Katherine nods faintly. Her one hand is still stabbed at the map. "Well, that sorta shoots all the data to hell. Means we'll really be looking in these buildings for a way down." 2d6-1 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Fitzroy (2d6-1) and gets 6. (... lucky.) * Threnody mmms faintly. "Well, it's not necessarily true. They also thought the US government was hiding aliens underground, and all sorts of other black operations things... but as Samuel said, most are probably just myths." * Katherine snickers. "Now I remember that joke you made about Sleythin at Roswell." She shakes her head, and takes a small drink. Chances are, if the artifacts aren't in this barrack, there'll be an elevator to the underground area anyhow, so it doesn't matter. Well.. according to this, everything below ground is sealed off. (Are the barracks to the east or the west of the main gate? (AKA, are we approaching from the Barracks side from the NE, or the Airfield side?)) <> They ordered the shafts blasted when they sold the place. * Katherine frowns. "Yeah, but we're talking about people who put holes in apartments." * Threnody blinks. "Then... where are they hiding the artifacts?" Hmm... Is there another entrence? I mean, not on the map. * Katherine shrugs. "Don't know, and don't know." She sighs. "Wish I had some explosives, or at least something that wouldn't involve touching an electric fence to get through." (As I assume that 'metal fence' is not 'solid metal walls') ( Hmmm... solid metal electrical walls. ) <> * Threnody mms faintly. "But the map implies that Anders and his group are the distraction. Explosives seems counterproductive to the 'plan'." He sips his tea. <> (Save the crazy shit for MC2, Vera. We wanna live.) (DunnoChikin DunnoWire?) Maybe, yeah. Still, though, I don't wanna scale that. Maybe we should hit a hardware store. * Katherine glances at Roy briefly. "Unless someone can find a secret entrance." ( "Sir, the papers are all prepared... What would you like to call your new corporation?" "Hmmmm.... Dunno." ) I'm lookin'.. I haven't find any maps on the place yet. * Vera nods and looks over the other information in the meantime. Fourty people at the most... They can't be everywhere at once, so that plays to our advantage. * Threnody looks into his teacup. "Did they even mention what this singular, all-important artifact looks like?" We can count on a significant number to deal with Anders' group. 2d6-1 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Fitzroy (2d6-1) and gets 10. * Katherine nods slightly, and goes back to looking. "Yeah." Perhaps we should take Deme instead of Leo. She hates this breaking into places stuff, though. * Katherine draws a finger across the back edge of the base, sorta talking to herself, "Hangars'll make good cover, too..." I know. But Leo hates the whole thing in general. And he's big. Deme won't stand out as much. Man, I can't find maps or info on construction.. I can't tell if they did anything with the place at all. * Threnody smiles tiredly at Fitzroy. "It's to be expected, if the Concordat are anything like Anders described them to me." * Katherine nods. "Just have to get some throw away cutters and put them on Anders' account." Sure... * Vera points to the open field. "I bet they built a giant bust of Aristotle in the middle of the field or something." (I need to go to bed very soon. You've got enough for a plan. Any quick questions?) * Fitzroy sighs, "Yeah. Not suprised really.." (I can't think of any, but it's not like I'm contributing much, either.) * Katherine takes a large drink of the vodka, and makes a slight face. "Well, for what we got, it seems straightforward." She frowns slightly. "But it's never that damn easy." Well, keep this in mind: We don't know what these 20-40 members are capable of. (No questions? Good.) (Night guys. Sorry I couldn't stay longer.) ( Night ) (Eh. What else would we have done? ^_^;) (And now we're in free mini space. ^^;) (who's logging?) * Katherine shrugs. "20, 40, they're just people. Just hope that none of them get to their exos, because we don't have anyone that can stand up to a exo for long." (I am.) (Mecha is. I am, too, just in case.) (*nod*) I wish I'd brought my exo now. I don't know why I didn't. * Katherine frowns. "Doesn't matter. We'd have to go back to Leo's ship for them, and that's god knows how far away." * Threnody blinks. "My suit... I forgot I had it. Still... not much use against a heavy exo." He smiles bitterly. "If only..." * Vera nods * Katherine smirks. %% Can't have everything, Thren. %% * Threnody shakes his head. %% Even if I could get it, it wouldn't be any use. Nobody but... they were all individualized. Nobody will ever be able to use it but her. %% Well, no use worrying about it, Roy. You use what you've got, not what you wish you had. Yeah. What I've got isn't much though. * Katherine makes an mming noise after Thren's statement, and then grins again. "We can always hope to borrow a few, if they've got some." * Threnody smiles at Roy. "I don't know if it'll be of any use, but I have something you can take with you." You've got your mind. That's better than most any equipment. heh, if we were anywhere but the middle of nowhere I could probably rent us some construction hexes. Too bulky. * Katherine leans back, and drinks a little more. "Damn bulky." If all goes well, they won't see us in the first place. * Threnody finishes his tea, then gets up and brushes off his jeans. "Well... I'm sorry I couldn't be of any use to you. Good luck tomorrow." I don't think the infiltration will be the hard part. * Katherine waves at Thren. "Try to get some real sleep." She looks back at the map. "We'll need it." And infiltration might not be the biggest thing, but ya gotta do it step by step. * Threnody smiles wearily. "I don't think I'll be getting any real sleep. I think I'm going to go do katas outside." He rubs his temples. "Lots of them. Please excuse me." * Katherine nods, but doesn't look back at Thren. Then again, she doesn't say anything either, so what can you do? * Threnody leaves, and stuff. * Vera looks from Roy to Kat. "Kata? That some kinda noodle?" * Fitzroy scratches the back of his neck "Ya got me on that one." * Katherine smirks. "No. It's sword practice. It's..." she frowns... "It's like a firing range pattern." A Hogan's Alley, of sorts. Except with a sword, and no targets. * Katherine takes a sip, then smirks. "No real good analogy." Er.... I suppose. I can't see how swinging a sword around without a target is going to show you anything. Not something you can really explain unless you've used a weapon that isn't a gun. * Katherine grins. "And who'd do that, anyway?" I used a led pipe to beat someone with once. Ouch. * Fitzroy tugs his mindlink cord. "Mental weaponry, in some cases." * Vera nods. So, five of going in. Hmmm. You can really mess somebody up these days, digitally. It's a large group. Going to be hard to move. Nothing ya can do about that. We'll have good cover all the way. * Vera nods. "I guess." I'll have to hang back. I'll be no good up front. We'll handle the fighting, if there is any, Fitz. But I don't want to see something like what happened at that apartment happen again. * Katherine frowns. "You didn't really explain what happened in the apartment very well. What went down?" Found a security panel that we couldn't crack. Had to call up Roy. * Katherine grins faintly. "Right, I remember that part." How about you guys down on the street? Beat up the old guy, remember? I was talking about the giant hole in the floor. Hole? The elevator? Well, it wasn't an elevator when we got there, but that makes sense, since Leo said you were underground. * Vera shrugs. "Guy had a wardrobe that went to Hell. But I mean, Deme was spacing out, and Roch was gone. What happened there?" Oh. * Katherine licks her lips. "Roch said she wasn't feeling good, so I went to drop her off at the tube. Deme... just sorta blanked out. And a brick fell on her. Creepy kid." Oh. * Katherine nods. "Yep. Just another case of boring guard duty." Mm... * Fitzroy hmms. Roch have a disease or something? * Katherine 's ears twitch. "Naw. Just seems sorta frail. I mean, look at that skin." Fair enough. * Fitzroy to Kat, "You two knew each other before all this Anders stuff?" * Katherine nods. "Yeah. Dated her brother, like we said." She chuckles. "Didn't quite expect to end up having her on my couch a few years later, though." Ah, ok. Life's full of coincidences... Or something. * Katherine smirks. "Yeah, somethin' like that." She sips, and then is out of alcohol. How sad. "So, Roy. K.B. How do you get a name like K.B. Up late with too much caffeine?" heh, That's short for KingsBlood. It's just the net persona I use. * Katherine nods. Everybody I know on the net just ends up calling me K.B. K.B., huh? * Katherine nods absently, and eyes her glass with a thin frown. Then she puts it down. Mind if I ask you something kind of personal, Roy? uh.. I suppose. * Katherine just sits there, and stretches her neck slightly. She doesn't seem to be going anywhere. Sorry, I'm just a bit curious: You come from Twilight City, yet you seem to be doing pretty well. Why's that? Well, I'm not originally from Twilight. I just kinda ended up there. You'd think most people would be looking for a way out of there. * Katherine nods, and her ears twitch. yeah. I do a lot of traveling though. * Vera nods. * Fitzroy holds one of his wrists (both have silver chains), "You've seen these, right? I got them in Twilight" Can't remember. What are they? You can find some of the best cybernetics there. * Katherine smirks. "You just can't beat a black market." * Katherine then makes a grumbling noise. * Fitzroy brings his tsm machine onto the table and puts his hand by it. The chain melts and attaches itself to it. The holo-display pops up and Net stuff starts flashing by. Nano interface tools. * Vera nods. "Come to think of it, maybe I do remember. It's pretty cool." * Katherine whistles. "Good stuff." One on each wrist. *He makes the other wrist change shape from a simple chain to a flat band/bracelet thing* * Vera snickers. "Useful and stylish." ( But you still need a nano-hat. ) (Hats are for people who want to hide icky hair!) * Fitzroy smiles. (I'm seeing a paper hat, but made of shiny metal) (Like a tinfoil hat?) * Katherine chuckles herself, then stands. "I'd better get going. Hopefully I can find those cutters before I have to knock off." Lots of luck with that. Yeah. Not much we can do with this map. That's for sure. Some intel. * Katherine nods. "Well, it can't be that hard. How many people don't need to cut through possibly electrical fences on a daily basis?" * Vera mocks Sam's voice. "There may be 20 enemies in there for you... or double that." * Katherine snickers. "Like ya said. Use what ya got." She yawns. "I better make this quick. See ya." * Fitzroy disconnects his nano tools and stands up. * Vera stands up as well. "Guess this party's come to an end." I'll probably be in my room. Let me know if ya need anything. * Katherine turns, smiles thinly, and walks off. Alright. I might take you up on that. * Vera heads for the door "G'night." (Yes, Vera... needs something.) (*snickers*) (Roy is the only tailor within 50 miles, and her hat busted. What did you think I meant?) * Fitzroy heads out too. (Just that. It's all about the hat.) ( Nah. I got a suitcase full of hats. ) << Funny Angle Brackets go! MiniFile 8.2, closed or something! >> << For Sure >>
