<> <> (Monday?) (October 14th, Monday.) <> (She left with an impish grin, though!) (It can't be good!) <> * Rochelle is spending her evening off work sprawled on the floor and watching the 'net, since Echidna demanded the couch. She glances out the window; sadly, the rest of the city is not on fire. * Katherine isn't there. So she isn't doing one of the many things that she would do if she wasn't there. However, Eck is sure enjoying the couch. Mmm. Couch. * Rochelle flips through the channels, looking for something that isn't about the history of soy-milk. <> * Rochelle whoos, only without the whoo-ing part. Catfish! * Katherine knocks on the door loudly, and says, "Hey, Roch? Ya in there? Open up!" * Rochelle looks back over her shoulder at the door. "But I'm watching catfish." She gets to her feet and goes to open it, though. * Katherine is standing outside the door, holding a large bag in either arm, grinning. "Catfish? Aw, girl, you totally need something else to do." * Rochelle shrugs. "It's not yaks." She gets out of Kat's way. * Katherine walks in, swaying slightly until she gets to the table, and then thunks them down, to the sound of glass on glass. "I guess not." She starts pulling things out of the bags and putting them on the table. They're bottles and snacks. Lots of bottles and snacks. Small favors, huh? Well, I got a better idea. <> * Rochelle eyes the bottles and snacks. "Yeah?" * Katherine finishes emptying out the bags, and tosses them, then turns to Roch, with a grin. "You bet. Time to celebrate." * Rochelle walks over to see what, exactly, she brought. "What are we celebratin'?" <> * Katherine picks up a bottle, then walks over to the counter and pulls out a few glasses. "I dunno. Do I have to think of something?" Well, yeah. If we're celebrating something. * Rochelle points. "Eck's in the bag. We can celebrate that." * Katherine frowns. "Oh. Uh--perfect!" <> * Katherine pours Roch and herself a pair of drinks, and then hands one to Roch. "To Echidna in a bag." (It's vodka. Kat seems to like vodka.) * Rochelle takes one and clinks, unsurprised with the drink choice. "Cat in the bag," she semi-repeats, perfectly deadpan, before she takes a sip. <> * Katherine takes a decent gulp, then opens up a bag of cheap chocolate. They're actually Hersheys. Whoever bought them must not have wanted to drop the name. "So, why catfish?" Why not? Never watched catfish before. * Rochelle grabs some chocolate. Who doesn't like chocolate? * Katherine grabs a few of the other bags of snacks, an extra bottle or two, and hobbles over to the chair, sitting down and laying all the stuff on the floor nearby. "Come on. It can't be that fascinating." * Rochelle goes back to her spot on the floor and has another gulp of vodka. "'s better than Repeating Yak again." * Katherine grins, and gestures idly with the glass. "That, I'll buy." She takes a drink, then peers at the TV. "Didn't that just start? How can they show it more than once a day?" (She means the Yak thing, but read it as you will. ^_^;) I dunno. Maybe they wanted to make sure nobody missed it. Well, I missed most of it, and I don't care one bit! * Katherine drinks a little more and grabs some more chocolate. * Rochelle laughs a little, unwrapping some chocolate. "Sure? I can switch back to it." * Katherine shakes her head. "No, no, I think I'll survive without it." She picks up a bottle and refills her glass. This time it's rum. "Is there anything besides animals on today?" There was something about soy-milk. * Rochelle grabs the remote control and starts flipping while munching on chocolate. <> <> * Rochelle actually wrinkles her nose at that. "Ugh." * Katherine gestures at the screen, and exclaims. "You can't bleed that much! Man, every action movie has people covered in blood." * Rochelle points at a random person on the screen. "It's his twenty-four power. Splurt blood." She pops the rest of the chocolate into her mouth. Yeah, that's it. You probably could get a job on the hill with that as your 24 power. <> * Katherine takes another drink. "Broken Glass in Shanghai? That doesn't seem like a big deal. Not much of a hook." I guess nowadays it's a big deal, everything's made of Dunnoglass. <> It's not that bad. You never saw it? * Katherine shakes her head. "Nope. I use the net TV for news and noise." She glances back at the Eck in the Bag before taking another drink. "Eck just isn't a conversationalist." * Rochelle snickers and leaves it on this one, then. "Okay." She has another drink, too, and makes herself comfortable on the floor. <> * Katherine snickers to herself, "Well, I used to use it for work, but not any--okay, that isn't bad. But why does it look dubbed? Everyone speaks Marsal." It's to give it an old-time feel, or something. * Rochelle has some more chocolate. "They're all dubbed." * Katherine mumbles a, "Huh," then opens another box, pulling out a bunch of brown popcorn. * Rochelle shrugs, kicking her feet up behind her. "Don't ask me. I just watch them." * Katherine grins. "Yeah, well. You're the net expert. Who else am I gonna ask?" * Rochelle snickers some. "Okay." She swallows more alcohol and peers at the stuff some before putting it down. (You're drinking straight vodka? c_C) (Apparently, Roch was, but now she doesn't like it much?) (That's OK. We've got _options_.) (Lovely! And I wasn't entirely sure what she was drinking, because I'm wheeee so okay.) * Katherine licks her lips, and suddenly says at the TV. "Ha! Okay, that was a pretty good 24 power use. At least, I hope it was 24 power, because nobody bends like that." * Rochelle peers at the television. "Could just be camera tricks." * Katherine nods, "Yeah, that's what I figured if it wasn't a 24 power thing. Maybe we could ask Thren. He knows all that stuff." She knocks back the rest of her rum, and doesn't move to refill quite yet. But he can't read them if they're... I mean... yeah. * Rochelle plays with the wrapper. It's shiny. * Katherine snickers before filling up on rum again. "I don't know what style he uses, but he knows some of that." She takes a sip, then chuckles. "Thren knows way too much stuff. He's almost as bad as I am." He does? * Katherine nods. "Yeah. When he found out Deme was a butterfly, he said some junk about the Garden of Eden. I didn't recognize it at all." * Katherine snickers. "I'd say it was on the net, but I bet he doesn't watch it either." * Rochelle blinks a few times, then ohs. "I think I saw a show about the Garden of Eden once. Don't remember a butterfly, though." Yeah. I know what the Garden of Eden was, and I'm sure there were butterflys, but what gives? * Rochelle shrugs. "I dunno." She finishes off the small amount of vodka Kat poured for her and coughs. "Okay, now I remember why I don't drink that stuff much." * Katherine bahs and takes a drink. "Well, I got a whole bunch of other alcohols. I usually let it run low, and then when it gets too low, go and get a lot at once." So it ran low? I never checked. * Rochelle scrambles up and looks at what Kat brought. (Kat bought a lot of stuff!) * Katherine looks at the TV, and chuckles. "Hoo, that would bruise bigtime." * Rochelle looks up from inspecting the goods. "Yeah. Good thing it's not real." Yeah. Although they could make real movies. * Katherine raises her glass in a waving motion. "With lives like this, who can say reality is boring?' * Rochelle walks back to get her glass, then over to pour some ice and a couple things in. "What's that s'posed to mean?" Well, come on. Fires, thievery, planet hopping, dodging lightning, meeting new people? * Rochelle shrugs and walks back, now with a mostly full glass clinking with ice. "I guess. Always kinda liked boring." Hey, I lived for boring for the past few years. But people always say, "You can't make movies like real life." Just saying. Sure you can. Half the time people wouldn't think it was real life anyway. Good for them. * Rochelle sips, then reaches for caramel corn. Whoo! (It's actual caramel/chocolate mix corn. Welcome to the late 21st century!) (Ooh, not bad.) (I thought so.) * Katherine bahs. "Stupid Thren's stuck in my head. I think it's the alcohol." * Rochelle blinks. "Stuck?" * Katherine nods. "Yeah. It's like we're tied together in the mind." She chuckles. "Probably because we are. I asked him out on Saturday, too." Yeah? What'd he say? He wasn't really treatin' you different. * Katherine snickers. "Well, he said no, obviously." She slams back the whole glass, then takes a breath. "It wasn't like I put my heart in his hands or nothing. It'd just been a few weeks, and we'd had time to think." Oh. * Rochelle has a drink, but not nearly as much as Kat, and nibbles on some chocolate. * Katherine frowns, and leans forward. "It's not really fair. Now I can't go out with anyone, and I can't date anyone because if I do they'll get eaten by zombies or something." Well... uh, what'd he say? (Heeeeelll no, bitch!) (*snicker*) * Katherine waves her hand. "Oh, standard junk. There's stuff he's responsible for, we have growing up to do, you're a whackjob..." she trails off. "Well, he didn't really say that, but that's sorta what it boils down to." * Katherine pours herself another drink. "I mean, he's right. I hate mom. Don't see why that has to ruin a perfectly good relationship." * Rochelle ohs again, and thinks about that. "Yeah, I guess that doesn't make much sense." * Katherine nods. "See? I knew you'd get it." She takes another drink, then gets an impish grin. "We got it all backwards, it's still pretty damn funny." * Katherine grabs a handful of ChocoPopcornamel. "Well, not completely backwards. It was technically three dates." (Arcana's started, if you couldn't tell. ^^; I'm busy here.) (I guessed. That was the last pose I was gonna make until your response.) (Thankee. Sorry, but yeesh. @_@) You didn't have sex with him yet, didja? * Rochelle munches on a couple more kernels, watching the movie. * Katherine snickers, then says in an 'isn't it obvious' voice. "Well, yeah, I did." * Katherine has a faint smile on her face. "He came over to apologize for yelling at me, and..." she takes another quick drink, "Well, I wanted him, and apparently 'not being old enough to have a relationship' didn't quite get through to his brain at that point." * Rochelle snickers despite herself. Well, he is cute! And older. And could kick my ass about 50/50. How often do you find cute, older, strong, and fated to stick around you with a bunch of other whackos? I mean, come on! It's like a message! * Rochelle has another sip of whatever it is she made and actually laughs. "Yeah. Okay, so relationship is bad. But it's okay to have sex." * Katherine snickers. "Well, it was only a one time thing, so it's not quite as bad as 'casual sex only, no dating', but still. Meh. Well, it coulda gone worse, and there's always next time. It's not like there's any competition." She takes a sip. What's he gonna do, hook up with Vera? * Rochelle shrugs. "You could date... uh..." She thinks. "Roy! You could ask Roy out." * Katherine gestures dismissively. "Oh, please. I don't even know Roy. Ian's too weird. Vera's good looking, but a little off. And she's a tease." * Katherine pauses for a second. "And I think we can agree to leave Leo and Deme way out of this discussion." * Katherine pours herself more alkehol. * Rochelle thinks about that. "Too bad about Thren, then. Why him, anyway?" Why him what? Why'd ya wanna date him? He's too confusing. Yeah, but... well, it just sorta happened. You know how I babbled about all that mental shit? Memories and all that? * Rochelle nods. "Yeah." * Katherine takes a large drink. "Whenever Thren and I get near eachother... you know that aquarium thing he talked about yesterday? Well, it's like my memories are pirhanas, and Thren's a full course dinner." * Rochelle has another drink, thoughtfully, then giggles. "You eat his brain." * Katherine laughs. "No, but being around him can sure mess with mine. I'm not sure if it affects him too much." But in a matter of a few days, we went from complete strangers, to knowing a lot of each other's biggest problems and secrets. * Rochelle comments, with the teensiest bit of bitterness, "Not surprised." * Katherine grabs a handful of normal chocolate. "No? Why not?" 'Cause if he asked you like that, why wouldn't you talk about it? It took me a few days. Mainly because when he popped out with his 'You know my mom' line, I dedicated myself to getting too drunk as fast as possible. * Katherine snickers. "It worked, too. He practically dragged me home." * Rochelle shakes her head. "Shoulda made him carry you." She munches on more popcorn. It's good stuff. * Katherine grins. "It was hard enough getting him to walk me down the street. I was wearing an outfit like the one I was wearing yesterday. He was playing 'try not to touch the skin'. It was too funny for words." You just can't do it! That's the whole point. (I hate women like you.) (I'm drunk and Thren's the funniest man alive. Cut me some slack.) (Kat's spent the past month being serious and thinky and worrying about dying. That can go fuck off today. ^_~) (That doesn't change a thing.) (It could be a lot worse. Roch could have asked how he was in bed. ;P) (I'm waiting for it.) (I'm not. @_@) (Haaahahaha.) (Me? Why, I'm the most innocent character in this game! I'd *never*.) (It's your pose, Miss Innocence.) * Rochelle laughs. "So, what'd he do? Try pulling you with his fingertips?" (I know, I'm on it. ;P) * Katherine shakes her head. "Nope! He had to go around the waist. You don't really have a choice on it. I wish I coulda seen his face. With his thing for blushing, he must looked like a tomato." She frowns at her empty glass. "Vodka, Rum... what should I have next?" * Rochelle drinks a bit, then asks, "I forget. Do you have ginger ale?" * Katherine nods. "Yeah. Only cold, though." * Rochelle thinks about that. "Oh, yeah." * Rochelle grins a little. "Well, if you don't care if it's cold..." * Katherine arches an eyebrow, then stretches slightly, "Mmm?" * Rochelle gets to her feet, grabbing Kat's glass and going back into the kitchen where the alcohol, ice, and probably ginger ale are being kept. (Kat doesn't have _everything_ you'd ever need, but in 2089, just about _anything_ keeps well.) (Isn't that the truth.) * Katherine eyes the poor TV. "Huh. I thought that guy died at the beginning. Must have got better." * Rochelle tosses a good amount of ice in the glass, fills it mostly with rum, and tops that off with the ginger ale. She returns and hands it to Kat. "Rum, just fizzy." Oh, him? It's a secret martial arts technique, or something. Huh. * Katherine eyes the glass. "Fizzy Rum? It's like a whole new drink!" She pauses, then smirks a little. "Well, sorta." * Katherine takes a sip. * Rochelle giggles. "Sorta. It's not spiced, either. I'm sure it's supposed to be spiced." She flops back down. Oh. Well, I'll... uh... spices are a little vague. What sorta spices? * Rochelle shakes her head. "No, the rum. Spiced rum. See?" She goes back to watching the movie. * Katherine takes another sip, grabs some candy, and then leans back in the chair, eating the pieces slowly. (Woo! Freedom from the hater!) * Rochelle swallows a little more drink, grabs some popcorn, and asks, "So it's okay?" * Katherine nods. "Sure. It's fizzy! You must be picking up," Kat's voice goes a little 'old-dude' "'valuable skills and tradecraft'. Eh?" * Rochelle laughs. "Yeah. I can make people drunk." She pops some popcorn in her mouth. "Almost as good as being drunk." And they pay you for it! Yup! The creepy old guys tip more, but they hit on you more, too. * Katherine grins. "Yeah, but I've been hearing stories that you handle it well." Well, that, and you told me about that night Thren decided to explore his Punk roots. * Katherine takes another sip, and another chocolate. * Rochelle giggles. "That guy wasn't gonna wake up 'till..." She counts on her fingers. "Maybe two days later." Another sip, and she realizes her drink's pretty much gone. * Katherine snickers. "That's still damn impressive." She takes another larger drink. "Deserved it, too." He was annoying, and I thought it'd be funny. Was, too. * Katherine grins, and sips again. * Katherine finishes her candy supply, and leans back forward, licking some of the chocolate off her fingers. Then, suddenly, "Hey! There's the glass." See! 'S a good name for the movie. * Rochelle takes one of the cubes out of her glass and sucks on it. Guess it's better than Halfway to Europa. I mean, halfway to nowhere's still nowhere. Laaaame. * Rochelle snickers. "And they actually got to Europa, so." Exactly! See, now that's a lame name. I think they were aiming for something artistic. * Katherine digs around in the popcorn box, and comes up with barely a handful. So it's like wisdom? No, no, artistic. * Rochelle eyes the box. "Aww." * Katherine eats the popcorn a little too gleefully. "Well, we might have more. I like this stuff. I don't remember if I got a second box." * Rochelle hops to her feet and goes to look! (Success?) (... Sure!) * Rochelle returns, victorious! Er, with a box of choco-caremel popcorn. She flops back to her spot and opens it. * Katherine eyes Roch. "Popcorn hog. I'll have to remember to get three next time." * Rochelle sticks her tongue out at Kat and eats popcorn. * Katherine laughs, and suddenly is out of fizzy. "Nuts. Um." She pours herself vodka. "Can you do any magic with vodka?" Kat's starting tou sound a little drunk. Besides the conversation topics, of course. Um... sure. * Rochelle puts her box down and grabs her own glass and Kat's, wandering back to the kitchen. * Katherine 's glass was already partially filled! What will Roch do? * Katherine walks over and grabs a handful of popcorn while Roch leaves the box unguarded. * Rochelle dumps it out. That's what she does! "I saw that," she comments as Kat steals the popcorn. * Katherine says around a mouthful of popcorn. "Can't get around you, Roch. You're all seeing." * Katherine goes and sits back in the chair. * Rochelle snickers despite herself. "Yeah, sure." She dumps a little more ice in the glasses, following this with, well, vodka and... she roots around. "Brandy?" Brandy? Um. I think I've got an older bottle in... near the fridge. Top cabinet. * Rochelle looks up there and snags it, pours some into both glasses, and puts it back. And then she looks through the fridge itself, grabs the milk, and puts that in. I don't do Brandy much. Taste for scotch, though. Not sure why. Still. Gotta keep it around. It's sorta a standard. * Rochelle idly grabs a spoon, stirs, and wanders back to Katherine. "Yeah, that's weird. Here ya go." She hands her her original glass. * Katherine eyes. "So what's this one?" Dirty Moma, only without the Kahlua. * Rochelle pauses, then giggles a little. "Kinda like Momo. I didn't think of that." * Katherine snickers. "Yeah, you're right." She takes a sip. Maybe there's a Momo drink out there. Probably more than one. Probably really complicated. Never mind. * Rochelle has a sip, too. And popcorn. Her popcorn! * Katherine opens up a different bag and starts eating things out of it. They look sorta like sour patch kids, if they looked like big green blood cells. "Oh, Momo's got all sorts of drinks. I don't think she has one named for herself, but Harty thinks her signature drink is the Doctor. Never really explained why." Harty doesn't ever explain much of anything, though. * Rochelle nods, having another drink. She blinks at it a few times, then sets it down. "Is the movie over?" She peers at the credits. "Yeah, it's over." Aww. I was too busy drinking to figure out what happened! * Katherine grins. "Isn't that always the way?" Only when you're drinking. Could spoil it. Ah, then I won't have an excuse to watch it again if it ever comes on. * Rochelle grins. "Thought you didn't like it." She has another sip and sets it down again before putting her head on the ground and grabbing the remote. * Rochelle flips channels while looking at the TV upside down. Well, I don't know. It wasn't so bad. Better than Yaks. * Rochelle giggles. "Yeah." She keeps skipping channels. (From now on, the minimal 'well, it could have been worse' phrase is, "Better than Yaks.") (Agreed.) * Katherine eyes the snacks. "Gah. These don't work with... uh... whatever you put in the Dirty Moma." She puts the bag down. Like mints and soda? * Katherine nods. "Yeah, just like that." Well, except that these aren't mints, and this isn't soda. * Katherine drinks. * Rochelle sort of gets up, grabs one of the sour things, and pops it in her mouth. Then sits heavily and takes a drink, and nearly spits it out. She swallows, with some trouble. "Okay, I get it." * Katherine snickers. "What, you didn't believe me?" * Rochelle shrugs. "I wanted to see!" Well now you know! And that's the rest of the story! Or something. * Katherine eyes Roch confusedly, then smirks. "Anything else you're wanting to see while you're in experiment mode?" She takes a drink. (Paul Harvey the Fourth, on channel 1893 at 12 noon every day. Brr.) * Rochelle swallows. She's sounding quite buzzed by now, too, but that's pretty much been a given. "I dunno. Like what?" (Yup.) * Katherine waves her hand idly. "You're the one who's trying to mix... flavovibes and Dirty Momas. You tell me." You did it first! * Katherine opens another bag of chocolates, and eats some, saying, "Yeah, but then I stopped and told you they tasted lousy." But it was funny. * Rochelle sounds almost hurt. She munches on popcorn. * Katherine snickers. "I guess." She grins. "Your face sure was." Okay, so I forgot the mirror. Not doin' it again. Maybe I should I tell you 'Art is cool', and then you'll go and try to paint stuff. Or maybe I should give you that sword. I'd cut my own foot off. * Rochelle thinks. "But there wouldn't be that much blood." * Katherine waves her hand. "Nah, it's blunt. You'd crush your foot." I'd crush my foot off! That's harder than you'd think. And really painful. * Katherine drinks a little more. That's okay. Pain happens. Never painted anything, though. Really? Well you could. I've got all sorts of art supplies left. * Katherine snickers, and gestures with the half-empty glass. "It's not the kind of thing you throw out. They're not that expensive, but you can go through a lot." * Rochelle nods. "Okay, maybe I can try sometime." * Katherine stands, wobbling only slightly. "Why not now? Too drunk?" * Rochelle has another sip, then stands, too! She wobbles a little more than Kat; probably because she's smaller. "Okaaaay, I can try." Great! You bring the snacks, I'll put down the tarp. * Katherine walks across the room. Well, she may have wobbled standing, but she sure doesn't seem to have lost her sense of balance. * Rochelle picks up the sour green things and pops another in her mouth. Now that she's not drinking, it's not so bad. * Rochelle also grabs the popcorn and chocolate and wanders after Kat. She sways slightly, but she doesn't need any support. * Katherine pulls a giant white bundle, which was well hidden, out onto the ground, spreading it out. Then she pulls out a giant easel and similarly giant sheet of paper, which she affixes to the easel. * Rochelle watches Katherine do this with a completely untrained eye. It looks cool. * Katherine pulls out one of those big funny palette things, and dabs the 6 primary and secondary colors on it, and then white and black. "Okay. This is where you get to mix colors. You might not want to mix too many colors, but the basic thing is just the good old fashioned color wheel." She hands Roch the palette and the brush. * Katherine gestures at the painting. "If I were sober, this would be a real deal, and I'd point out stuff like perspective and junk. Right now, though, just try to put down the paint down in a pattern that makes sense to you. Just watch out for the brush. It has its own shape, so it acts a little funny." * Katherine pauses, and adds, "If you want me to show you some of mine, I can. It might help." * Rochelle takes them, fumbling until she holds the palette and brush right. "Okay." * Katherine grins a little goofily, and says, "Okay to what I said, or okay to looking?" * Rochelle looks at the colors, then looks at Kat, then grins! "Okay." * Katherine says, "That's not helpful!" Sure it is. It could be both. So say both, sheesh. * Rochelle nods. "Both." * Katherine nods slightly, and wanders over to the veritable pile of pictures against the window-wall, and starts thumbing through them. "Any ideas what you wanna draw?" * Rochelle puts a lot of thought into that. "Um... no. What're you s'posed to draw?" * Katherine says, "Whatever you want! That's the great thing about art." * Rochelle ohs. She looks at the colors, then the canvas, then the colors again, hmming. * Katherine pulls out a picture, with a grin, and leans it, face up against a wall. It's... a painting of Roch! Roch on the ground, painting her nails in front of the TV. Eck is sitting on her head. And Kat seemes amused by it. "Here you go. I'm sure you can recognize this'un." * Rochelle turns and looks. "Hey, that's me!" She blinks. "And Eck!" * Katherine nods, and brushes her hand over the surface lightly. "Yep. It was one of my practice paintings. You make a good subject." She grins. "Eck might not stay still, but you sure do." * Rochelle giggles. "It's really good. Wow. When'd you learn how to paint?" * Katherine chuckles, and looks happy. And sad. It's a very confusing look. "Oh, I guess it must have been seven or eight years ago." Oh. * Rochelle walks over to get a better look, still holding the palette and brush. "I like it. Only Eck's kinda heavy when she sits on your head." * Katherine looks pleased. "Thanks. And I believe that." She glances back towards the kitchen. "Hrm. I'll be right back." Huh? Okay. * Rochelle keeps looking at the picture. * Katherine grabs a few bottles, and comes back over with them. * Katherine grins. "Wow, you're staring at yourself. Getting any ideas, or you wanna see something a little different?" No, it's just... * Rochelle points. "Do I really look like that? * Katherine peers at the painting, then peers at Roch. "I think so. Why?" I look so bored! I always look bored, don't I? * Katherine laughs. "A lot, yeah. I mean, who can blame you? You watch net all day." * Katherine pops open a bottle, and takes a drink. "Whoo." * Rochelle giggles. "It's not that bad! Sometimes it is, but it's not always." * Katherine nods. "Well, if it keeps you occupied, there's gotta be something there." I guess. * Katherine says "Need more inspiration, Rochy?" I just dunno! * Rochelle thinks. * Rochelle walks over to the easel, dips the brush, and starts painting. All wrong, as it happens, since she's trying to use the brush like a pencil. Well, it's not... oi, I did say that the brush acts a little funny. It moves on you. Ya gotta be careful. * Rochelle yelps and gets paint on herself. "Aww!" * Katherine laughs. "See? It's not that easy! And I bet you people thought I was just messy." Nooo, I just thought paint's messy. * Rochelle dabs more yellow and orange paint and tries again. * Katherine steps back and lets Roch work. Also, she drinks idly while Roch does. * Rochelle keeps going! Lots of orange and yellow. And a little white. * Katherine watches! "So, what'cha paintin'?" * Rochelle beams. "The sun! I like the sun." She dabs red and starts painting around the hazy, globeish thing. * Katherine nods. "You're absolutely right. It's a sun." Are you sure it's not just paint? It's never just paint. Paint makes pictures. Pictures tell you things. Saying it's just paint is like saying that people are just water. Noooo, people are mostly water. I think. * Katherine pauses, and adds, "Yeah, that sounds good." She takes another slug. * Rochelle keeps going. Red! * Katherine is watching! And drinking a little. She is humming something to herself. * Rochelle finishes! Maybe. She steps back and looks at it; the picture, really, is just that hazy glob of yellow/white/orange, with red around it. "Umm..." It's the sun! Or a really big dot. Or I'm not drunk enough. * Katherine wobbles over to Roch. "Well, it's a good start, I think. Real suns don't look like suns anyway." * Rochelle wrinkles her forehead. "... I don't get it." Huh? How can't a sun look like a sun? That's what a sun looks like! A sun! * Rochelle flails. Paint gets everywhere. * Katherine tries to shield the exposed painting from the paint. She has to dive to do it, so she makes a great thudding noise. But she succeeds, at the cost of being covered in red paint. Oof. Diving save for me, I think. * Rochelle blinks. "Oops." Sorry! Is the painting hurt? Sorry. * Katherine pulls herself up off the ground, after putting the bottle she had in her hand down. "I don't think so." She manages to stand, and indeed, except for a few flecks about the outside, Kat manages to take one for the painting. * Rochelle peers. "I did hurt it. Aww." * Katherine says, turning around and grinning, "Aw, no real damage. All the stuff on the outside was blurry anyway. But maybe that's enough painting for the night? ' Although I can show you what I meant about the sun thing, if you want. I think. * Rochelle nods. "I still don't get it. If you wanna." * Katherine nods, and pulls through a bunch of paintings, much less cautiously. A picture of a blonde woman barely covered by a bedsheet, a different woman crucified, and a bunch of people, all together in a group fall to the ground before Kat pulls out a picture of Luanne in the car, on earth, and she puts it over where the Roch pic is. Then she points at the painting, specifically, a small yellowish/red/white dot in the background of the sky. See? This is just a yellow dot. But you know it's a sun, right? * Rochelle points. "Yeah! But I always think the sun's bigger." * Katherine nods. "Right, but see, the point is that it's all... in a bigger picture. You know it's a sun because it's in the sky, not really because it's yellow, or red, or sun-like." * Katherine adds, "Although it helps a lot." Everythings has an... um... environment. Yeah. That's the right word. Environment. * Rochelle thinks. "Like... trees? Every time they talk about the environment on the 'net, it's about Earth and trees!" * Katherine laughs. "Yeah, but, see, trees and such are the environment for life. Or they're supposed to be. Like..." * Katherine gestures around in a big sweeping drunken motion. "This is our environment. You can figure out what things are, just because they're here. Wherever stuff is tells you about what it is. You don't see suns inside of apartments." Unless people draw 'em. Oh! Eck's in a bag. * Rochelle perks. "We should paint Eck in a bag!" * Katherine laughs. "Perfect! Here, lemme help you this time." * Katherine tears Roch's painting off the paper and sets it aside on the ground, then pulls up more paper. This time, she takes Roch's arm , standing right behind her. Very cozy. "I'll help you get the brush strokes down." Oh! Okay. Um... * Rochelle tries to hold the brush. Correctly, this time. Okay, not quite correctly, and she fumbles a little in her drunkeness. * Katherine pushes the brush up in her grip slightly, and says right in her ear. "Ya gotta keep a good hold on it. And when you use it, you can use your wrist and fingers to help lay down the paint. Put some brown paint on it, and I'll show you what I mean." * Rochelle nods. "Okay." She, Kat willing, dabs the brush into the brown. * Katherine lets Roch do that, and then guides her hand up to the paper. "Okay, so like I said... you can use your wrist.." Kat twists Roch's wrist gently, "... or your fingers..." Kat flexes Roch's fingers slightly, "To use the brush for you. Like... so." She guides Roch's hand right up to the paper, then brings it down and causes a slight twist. Then two more strokes. * Katherine then draws back. "See, that can be the side of the bag. but it sorta bends, like Eck already kicked the crap out of the bag." And then she ate it! But not yet. * Katherine nods. "Right." * Rochelle is rather intent on the painting. She doesn't seem to particularly notice Kat's so close to her. * Katherine says, as she continues guiding Roch's hand at times, "That sorta trick can also be used with the tip... it'll help you do things like Eck's ears, or sharp corners of the bag." Ooh. I think I get it! Maybe. So you use different parts of the brush, kinda... different sizes. * Katherine nods very slightly, which ends up brushing a little of her hair against Roch's cheek. "Different sizes, different textures. There's this really neat trick you can do to make flower petals with a twist of the wrist, but... we want a bag, not a flower, eh?" * Rochelle blinks, but says, excitedly, "Bag! With a cat in it!" * Katherine nods, and continues guiding a little. "Yeah, totally. And you should draw Eck with a piece in her mouth. Like she just tore it off. That would be awesome." * Rochelle laughs. "I'd mess it aaaaaall up. You could do it." * Katherine says, with an amused tone, "Uh-uh. This is your painting. You had the idea. I'm just helping." Are you sure? * Katherine nods again. This time, she's not quite so careful, and it's actually a cheek brush. "Yeah. You can draw Eck inna Bag.' Okay. * Rochelle keeps working on the bag, then. * Katherine helps Roch whenever things get a little off, then whispers at one point, "You're lucky Eck's really dark. If you were drawing a lighter cat in the bag, ya gotta be more careful. More paint makes things darker." Ooh. I guess that helps. She's a beginning cat? * Katherine giggles. Like, a real giggle. "I guess she is." * Rochelle giggles, too. It's infectious. "Cool!" * Katherine continues with the guiding. She starts humming something idly. * Rochelle lets her do so in silence for a bit, then: "What're you hummin'?" * Katherine blinks, and says, "Um. It's something I was listening to a week and a half ago, when I was painting one day. It's called 'Change Your Mind.'" * Katherine sings a little, in a voice that is weak and wavery because it's so soft, "'If you wanna change the world, change your mind,'... well, it's been flitting in and out of my head." * Rochelle blinks, then wrinkles her forehead. "Change your mind?" * Katherine nods. "It's... the whole point is that..." brush twist "... if you try to do things, but your mind's not in the game, you're just gonna run into a wall." But if ya can get your mind around it... then things can go your way. Or, at least, some way. I'm not sure I buy it, but it was the right mood that day. * Rochelle nods. "Oh." She's been pretty much finished with the bag, and starts trying to work on Eck... which is quite a bit harder, yes. * Katherine says, again, right in Roch's ear, "Remember, be careful with the brush. Gentle strokes for the tips. Use the fact that the brush already sorta looks like an ear to help you out. Or drag it out in the form of a tail. You're doing real well, though, at picking it up." * Katherine grins, and says amusedly, "Just think how well you'd do not tipsy." I'll try sometime! When I'm not tipping. * Rochelle keeps at it, though. "If I remember." She is doing a good job picking it up. * Katherine laughs a little. "Aw, I'm sure I can remind you if you lose it." * Rochelle giggles. "'kay." * Katherine grins a little. "Just take the brush in your hand, and maybe my hand on your wrist, and it'll all come back. Well, maybe." * Rochelle nods and sticks her tongue out. Cat face, cat face. * Katherine says, encouragingly, "C'mon. Eck in a baaaaag." Bag the cat! In the bag. * Rochelle works on the face. It... looks quite a bit like Eck, yes. * Katherine helps Roch with twist stuff, but tries to keep away from actually defining the face for Roch. She's smiling big and happy. * Rochelle starts smiling, too. Cat! She adds whiskers, then tilts her head, looking it over. There's a pause, then: "It's Eck!" * Katherine nods. "It's Eck. In a bag." * Katherine grins. "See, something like this doesn't need environment. It's Eck in a bag. She could be in space, and it's still Eck in a bag." She could be in space! But I don't want to draw her in space. Paint! I'm painting. * Rochelle nods. * Katherine nods too. Again with the cheek brushing. "Really good work, Roch. Good deft hands, and just drunk enough that I didn't break your wrist." She chuckles at that. * Rochelle cheers. "I'm drunk!" Beat. "Waaait." Waaait whaaat? Izzat good? * Katherine grins, and says in Roch's ear. "Being drunk? Well, it's not bad. It's fun, innit?" * Rochelle beams, then nods. "A little." * Katherine mock pouts, not that Roch can see it since she's still staring at the pic, and Kat's still behind her. "Only a little?" * Rochelle smiles. "Okay, more 'n' a little." She tries to move, then wobbles. * Katherine 's hands come down to Roch's hips immediately, to steady her. "Whoa there. Careful. Don't wanna fall on your paintings." * Rochelle pouts. "It'sa pretty painting." She puts the palette and brush down. * Katherine nods. "It is, but you wouldn't wanna fall on it. S'not dry yet." Would you wanna fall on it if it was? * Katherine says in an amused tone, "No, but it might survive survive. Still, not a good idea." Like with red paint! Okay. * Katherine laughs in Roch's ear. "Yeah, Red paint. I totally forgot about that. I must be a mess." * Katherine says softly, "Was just really into it." * Rochelle nods. "It's okay." This is followed with a smile. "I still like you! I think. I like you now!" * Katherine can see the edges of the smile, and can't help but smile herself, "Me too, Roch. I like ya too." * Rochelle giggles. "Okay." She yawns, a little. "Sometimes, I dunno if people like me or not. I don't think I care that much, but it's nice when they do. And you do, so that's nice." * Katherine rubs Roch's side a little with her left hand, moving it up from the hip. He voice is a little softer, "Yeah, it is. Don't have to worry about me not liking ya, either." * Rochelle smiles, almost warming up to that. Maybe she is a cat. "Okay. I'll try not to worry." And she looks around. "Wow, it's messy." * Katherine licks her lips, and nods. "Yeah, but the tarp caught most of it. Well, us and the tarp." And the sun. * Rochelle keeps smiling. "I like the sun. It's why this is better than TC." * Katherine says, in the amused tone, "Even with sunburn?" Yeah. * Katherine grins, "Now that's dedication. Well, then, yay sun." Yay sun! * Katherine takes a deep breath, and gives Roch a hug from behind, and holds it for a small bit. (Just enough for a pose/reaction!) * Rochelle freezes in her sun-celebration, looking ahead. She swallows. "Um." * Katherine then pulls away slowly to the sound of paint that Kat had smooshed between them coming un-stuck. Sadly, on Kat's side, that's a lot more about paint-on-flesh. She gives a weak smile. "Nnh. Ow. Knew there was more than one reason I didn't want to move." * Rochelle turns, looking at Kat. She's concerned? It's a strange look, coming from Rochelle. "You okay?" * Katherine nods slightly, and keeps the weak smile around. "More or less, Roch. Just..." she trails off, then comes back with. "Moment struck me, and I felt close to ya, so." * Rochelle yawns again. "It's okay." * Katherine seems greatly relieved by that fact, and says, "Okay it is, then!" She looks down at Roch, and says, "Yep. We both probably look pretty silly. And red." She pauses, and adds, "Well, you do." * Rochelle sticks her tongue out at Kat. You're more red! I redded you! * Katherine grins. "I started part red. It's not fair." She rubs one of her fingers on her face, and eyes the flakes that come off. * Rochelle giggles at the flakes, then yawns a third time. "Sleepy." * Katherine points over at the bathroom with a smirk. "Well, you should probably get clean before you fall asleep, and take one of the hydration pills, because you don't wanna wake up hung over and covered in paint." * Rochelle thinks about that. "Okay." And she heads to the shower. A little wobbly, but she makes it! (I guess at this point we can either move in great sweeping motions, or just stop. I dun care too much either way. ^_^;) (If there's anything else you felt like working in... feel free to keep going. ^_^;) (Can stop, probably. She's just going to drop off to sleep. ^^;) (Heh.) (Rochelle's like that. "I'm tired! Sleep now! *thud*") * Katherine takes a cutter and cuts the Eck inna Bag picture off the paper roll, and eyes it, then puts it back against the easel to dry, as well as stacks all the paintings back where they go, except for the Roch painting. That one, she sits down at and paints over the red flecks, slowly. <>
