<> <> <> (You're brilliant.) <> (I am very, very tired.) * Vera is lying on her futon, arms folded behind her head, hat over her eyes. * Katherine exhales tiredly. She is sitting on _her_ futon, pad in hand, working slowly. * Katherine looks up from her pad and looks Vera over. Her ears twitch slightly and she sighs again, putting the pad aside. * Vera is not wearing her duster, but otherwise is dressed in her usual style. One of her guns is on the table, in case she needs to reach it quickly. The other is in its holster, in case she needs to reach it more quickly. * Katherine glances towards the door, from which people and such make noise, and then stands up, walks over, and closes it, before jumping back onto her futon. "Mmph. This is already annoying." She grabs a book from her bag and starts flipping through it. * Vera doesn't move when she responds. "Yep." * Katherine turns to the side a bit, so she's facing Vera, "Well, on the bright side, at least the ads don't fly in peoples' houses." Yep. * Katherine eyes the hat Vera is not sleeping under, then the book she's holding in her hand, then puts the book down. "You been catching the news about the people going on rampages?" (We are talkative and social! It is why we hide in books and computers and hats.) Yeah. Can't put a pattern to it, though. * Katherine nods slightly, and starts rubbing her left hand against the exposed scar on her left side idly. "Yeah. Just doesn't seem to have anything to do with anything, other than random terror." Maybe that's all it is. Nothing says the entire universe has to relate to what we've been doin' the past few weeks. * Katherine chuckles faintly. "Yeah. It'd be nice if it didn't start the day after the dustup at Area 51, though." She chews on her lip. Mmm, I suppose. Maybe one of the artifacts had something to do with it. * Katherine makes a small mming noise, then chuckles. "Yeah, sure. Hell, for all I can tell, one of the artifacts could be a perpetual motion machine." Yep. * Katherine lays there for a bit, chewing her lip. Mmm. Lip. Either way, nothin' we can do about it right now. Well, there's not much anyone could do about it unless they had good FTL tech, or were ATC. They're all too far apart to gather data on. Yep * Katherine looks Vera up and down again, and a frown comes onto her face. "Damn Ronnie." Mm? It's just... either let us do nothing and get on with our lives, or let us do something. This damn in-between state is annoying. You get used to it. Half of my job is tracking people down. That takes time. * Katherine shakes her head. "I don't mind taking time. As long as it's not wasted time." She pauses, then adds, "It just doesn't mesh. Ronnie wanted us to go here, for Deme's sake, but nobody's supposed to see us." Mm? Nobody's supposed to see you, I thought. You're her lesbian lover. * Katherine snickers. "Yeah, well, she should have invited me along, then. At least then I'd be able to move around." She licks her lips, then says, "And the other half of that was that it was running on that they'd assume all of us were with Ronnie. So while I'm the worst case, any of us could blow it if the ID was good enough." It'd slow 'em down, though. They can't be watching every camera in the world. If that's the case, shouldn't Thren and Roch be here? * Katherine frowns. "Well, yeah, and if they basically hadn't up and disappeared, I'd agree." So it doesn't matter if they see us or not, anyhow. 'Sides, it's Sweden. Who would care? Well, if they could see us through the ads, the Concordat might risk another strike. Whatever we did, wherever they are, we pissed 'em off... * Katherine trails off, and her ears twitch slightly. Big surprise. I oughtta go find that guy and stick a bullet in his head. Well, that would sure solve the problem. But I think I got an idea. Maybe. I'd have to ask Roy about it. * Vera finally sits up and adjusts her hat. "What's up?" * Katherine says, finally taking her hand off her side and gesturing in the air, "Well, I figure maybe, if the Concordat are looking so hard for me, and now they're getting loads of data on the newsnets... maybe we can set up a trap or something. Figure out where they are. Seems reasonable, just... don't know anything about it." How's that work? Using yourself as bait, you mean? But that'd just get them to send small fry after you. Well, not after me. After Ronnie. Who would promptly slaughter them all. * Katherine frowns slightly. "I meant more like a tracer or something watching the data to see who gets it. It's a thought." Nah. It'd be all over the place. Millions of people would get ahold of it. * Katherine says, "Right, so you make it..." she licks her lips. "It's like a shop with an advertisement. Everyone knows about the advertisement, but not everyone goes in and asks the shopkeeper what's up. Or asks around about it." The Newsnet stuff is advertisements. We need to set up something that's waiting for them to come looking for in depth info, if we can. * Katherine snickers slightly. "My fictional sex life can't be that interesting." I suppose you could mention a color changing watermellon... * Katherine nods slightly. * Katherine stretches a little, since she's still laying down. * Katherine looks up-ish at Vera, with a quirk of a smile. "Were you actually trying to sleep there, or burning time?" Burning time. I'm bored. * Katherine yawns, and nods. "Just wondering if I'd interrupted. I was tired of working." Nah. Nothing to interrupt right now. * Katherine nods, and gestures with the book. "I've got a few books, if you ever get tired of reading your hat." Eh... Maybe. Not really one for readin' books. * Katherine shakes her head slightly. "You and Roch both. Well, I thought I'd offer." She seems amused at something. Maybe later * Katherine shrugs, and picks up the book again, looking at it sideways-like. * Vera lays back down. <>
