<> <> <> <> <> * Vera follows! She's good at it. * Threnody is also following, and seems rather more placid than the situation would suggest. * Rochelle walks along. She looks at Vera. "So, who was that?" <> Someone I know. <> * Vera follows! Some more. * Threnody follows at a sedate pace. No worries here. <> "You guys are gonna love her. She's crazy schway." Oh, someone you know. Okay. * Rochelle keeps going. * Threnody says, under his breath, "Well, one of those adjectives is right, anyway." (Haw.) (gong -> going) (Rochelle keeps gong! Never know when need Chinese instrument! >_<) (XD) <> "Watch your step." * Rochelle keeps going without hesitation. "Sure." * Vera follows across without losing her composure. * Threnody walks. He doesn't even have to roll. <> <> "Who's this, Zak?" * Rochelle waves. * Threnody smiles evenly. "Hello." <> "That's my sister, that's her friends. That one's Thren-dogg, I dunno that one's name. They're cool. Takin' em to see the Wiz." * Threnody looks at Zak as if he's insane. It might be justified. (Might?) ( Roll a 2d6 and find out! ) (Benefit of the doubt.) <> "Schway, dude. She's in concert at the moment, but you can head on down." * Threnody blinks distractedly. "Concert?" <> "Yeah. She does this singing thing. Dunno the language ... Old Earth something, maybe. Never heard it before." <> * Rochelle keeps tagging along with her brother. She glances back at the cubicle people. <> <> * Rochelle stretches. "Huh." * Threnody looks puzzled as he walks. "Chanting, huh..." He knits his brow. <> 2d6-2 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Threnody (2d6-2) and gets 7. * Threnody eyes the doors, brow furrowing even further. "...it's Sleythin opera. A human being singing Sleythin opera with considerable proficiency, I might add." <> "Gotta wait for a song break.... huh? Huh. Way schway." * Rochelle tilts her head. "Never heard Sleythin opera before." * Vera shrugs. <> * Threnody glances at Zak. "When did she get here? Do you remember?" <> "Not too long after shit hit the fan. Couple months ago, hey?" "She showed up then, anyhow. Maybe was here before." * Rochelle idly scratches at the back of her neck. "Then what happened?" "She shows up one day in the middle of a massacre with maybe six or seven other people. Started shouting orders, people started listenin'. Kinda just kept happening, cause she kept us alive." * Threnody blinks, finding something to sit on, if possible, and glancing at Zak, folding his hands under his chin. "What were the people who came with her like?" <> "Quiet, mostly. Like to sit and think a lot. Do mostly fists and kicks ... you know, kung fooey stuff. WAY schway." ... * Vera finds a nice wall to lean against. * Rochelle blinks a few times, then shakes her head. <> "She's at it for a while, usually. Says it relaxes her." I guess it works. * Threnody frowns a bit. He looks unhappy for some reason. "This mystical savior thing is pretty convenient. And now she's in her audience chamber... ha, 'the Wiz' indeed." (All people turn into their parents eventually.) * Vera shrugs. (The Wiz. The black Wizard of Oz!) (Such a weird movie.) (and musical.) (Okay. Thren might remember the Wizard of Oz, but I somehow doubt he'd remember the Wiz.) (and good riddance.) (Come on. "Keep On Down the Road" was a good song.) (... okay, that's the saving grace.) <> "She's not really mystical, ya know. Just kinda weird." * Threnody nods, drumming his fingers on the side of his chair distractedly. "I know." "Righty. Cause you know, you said that she was." <> * Threnody hums along absently. He must have been a patron of the arts at the tender age of 14. How much longer is this gonna take? "Not much longer. Think she did this one last week." Does she do it for anybody? "Whoever's around and wants to listen. And her people." * Threnody looks off into the distance. "Can't have genius without a little eccentricity, I suppose." <> "Schway, she's finished." * Rochelle smiles a little. "Cool." <> * Rochelle goes! Inside! OMG! * Vera follows. * Threnody too! WTF! * Vera does not BBQ. Yet. <> <> * Threnody says, under his breath, "If there's a giant head made of flame down there, I'm going to be upset." What if it's green? * Threnody glances at Rochelle. "Don't joke." * Rochelle shrugs. <> * Rochelle idly waves, too. She doesn't look surprised. What a surprise. :P * Threnody waves back. He doesn't look surprised in the slightest. (Awesome.) (...*blank expression* Kumbric Witch.) (*spins*) (....?_ (Read the novel form of Wicked.) (... Ha.) (Ha ha.) (Oy. Just ignore the copulating gangers.) (Moving on.) * Vera is the only one who looks surprised! But it doesn't last, because she quickly loses interest. (Why would she lose interest?) ( 'Cause it's Roch's crazy friend :P ) (Okay then!) <> * Rochelle blinks. And is hugged. She just sorta... stands there. Yup. Hi Mad. "Hey, Lassie! How's me Cat?" I'm alive. That's about it, I guess. How're you? * Threnody watches, partly out of politeness and partly out of a concerted effort in blocking out the stray mental backwater of a theatre full of fucking nutjobs with limited vocabularies. (Literally.) (*snickers* Quite.) "Hale and heartie, lassie." <> "A good omen, soldier. Good fer us... well. I guess I can drop the accent now." <> * Rochelle tilts her head. "Accent? Oh." Does this mean you're not really nuts? "Shame. I love that one.... well, only as nuts as it takes to take on these creatures." * Rochelle shrugs. Then why'd you act nuts? "Camouflage." From what? * Rochelle looks at Zak. "Oh, I met her in Red New York," she says before he asks. * Threnody says, evenly, "You have to admit, it worked." <> "Yeah... damn, sis. You're pretty well connected." Kinda by accident. <> "She's got the knack for it." <> "Zak, go wait for the raiding party to get back, and debrief them." <> "Yes ma'am." <> "So what have you been up to? I lost track after you left RNYC." * Rochelle blinks as Zak agrees to go, then looks to Hettie. "Uh, stuff." It'd be hard to explain without an expensive multimedia presentation. "Good or bad?" Bad. Yeah, mostly bad. Uh... do you need one of those band things? Might help. "Shame. Still, that's been the trend." <> "No need. Thanks, though." <> "Where are the others?" * Rochelle scratches at the back of her head. "Sleythin." * Vera shrugs. <> "Really?" Yup. They went to see the Egg. * Threnody rubs his temples. "Knowing Katherine, she's probably taken on the entire Army in Abstentia in hand-to-hand combat by now." (Operational Security? What's that?--HA.) <> "That old windbag." * Threnody gives Hettie a look. "...okay, my saying that was predicated on you not knowing what I was talking about, and now that I know you DO, I think you should explain yourself." (I win!) (You do win. Well done.) <> "Reputation, mostly. I'm part of the counter group to the Concordat. What little of one there was." * Vera takes an empty aisle seat, swinging her legs up over the top of the seat in front of her and leaning back. "Mm. Didn't we used to be something like that?" Something like that, yeah. Before we got screwed over, anyway. "The Concordat wasn't much of a threat. Their leader, on the other hand..." <> "We were too slow to recognize." * Rochelle has a seat, too, sticking her elbow on her knee and her chin on her hand. "Who's that?" Who else? That guy with the mind control crap. "Dorian, yes. Who's now here in Twilight City." Go figure. * Threnody blinks, then bites his lip. "There were two worst case scenarios I could have imagined, and that was one of them." "It's the happening place to be. Someone else he's working with, too, but we've never seen him." * Threnody gets a blank expression, and then finds a chair to slump into. ("Also, we killed your puppy.") You've got more problems than that. They've been getting cybernetics at a great discount. (...am beginning to hate my connection.) <> "That's not good. How do you know that?" Let's just say I ran into an old friend earlier. "Not that cheap matters when there's no economy, but it means they've got access to even more stores than the Krazors provided them with. Damn!" (*cry*) (Not much longer.) * Vera nods. Thought the Krazors weren't on their side. Or is it just whoever they grabbed or somethin'? <> "We've got Krazors here, but they got most of their territory, and thus supplies." Great. * Threnody leans back, looking at the ceiling with a dazed expression. "And we still don't know what they really want. Not even that ridiculous six month jaunt told us anything we really didn't know already, except for that thing about the Great War..." <> "I need to finish my conference. The generals and I are plotting tomorrow's raids... that's what we're doing, basically. Harrying and damaging what we can. If we can find the dimensional portal, we can close it. We can toss enough dimensional backlash on the circuit to keep us safe for a while, too." Probably at city hall or something. "That's our guess." * Threnody sits up, frowning. "But it's just a war of attrition..." He shuts his eyes. "Hopefully they managed to reach the Egg without killing themselves or anyone else. He might know something." * Rochelle looks into nothing. Then she blinks and turns her attention to Hettie. "Want me there?" <> "Here? Of course. I wouldn't have made friends with you if I didn't think you had value, dear, and I need all the worthwhile people here I can get." So you made friends with me 'cause you thought you could use me? * Vera doesn't say anything, but she tries and fails to hide a sarcastic grin. <> "Hardly. I said value, and you have it in spades. I never really thought I'd see you again." * Threnody stands up, then glances around, finally at Hettie. "I need somewhere quiet to think. Do you have something like that?" <> "There are rooms upstairs. Unassigned, so just lock the door when you're inside." * Rochelle looks like she's about to say something to Hettie, then she turns her attention to Vera. "Why the smile?" * Threnody nods faintly. "Thanks." He seems about to say something else, then shuts his mouth and turns to watch Rochelle and Vera. * Vera gets up and heads to one of those rooms. "Nothin'." Liar. * Vera doesn't respond! * Threnody eyes the two, then turns back to Hettie with a grim look. "Dorian's shadow partner... you really don't know anything about him or her?" <> "You still have the stone?" Yeah. (That was timed a little poorly.) (Move Thren's line under that exchange.) * Rochelle looks back to her and digs in her pocket, pulling out the white, polished stone Hettie gave her a while ago. She hands it over. ( Dang, here I thought we were supposed to head out <.< ) <> "Excellent leader. Not much more." <> "So pretty. Here." < (Grab it and say "Moon Cosmic Power!".) (Woo hoo!) (Wouldn't Roch technically be closest to Pluto or Mars?) (Shut up, MIke. -_-) <> "Old wives' tales, basically. Like horoscopes." * Threnody says, with a distracted air, "The Chinese used their system of horoscopes and divination well into the 21st century." * Rochelle turns the stone in her hand. "Oh." There's a pause, then she suddenly asks, "Why did you decide I've got value? I was just homeless." "You were nice to an old crazy lady. That's really something, these days." * Rochelle looks confused. "I was?" Pause. "I guess. Okay." * Threnody takes his stone out from under the shirt he's wearing and looks at it. "Hettie..." A pause. <> * Threnody shakes his head. "It's nothing. Thank you for the stone." "You're welcome." <> "I've got to get on with this. I'll see you both later." * Threnody nods. "Alright." ( But not me! ) (You're not there!) Okay. Uh, can I talk to Zak? Is he still busy, you think? "He's just waiting, and he won't be long if he's busy. Take your time, explore the place, get a night of sleep. We've got a mild food store in the basement." * Rochelle blinks. "Food, great. Which way's to that?" * Threnody turns to Roch. "I'll see you later. I have to go clear my head." He waves and makes to head off! Sure, Thren. <> "Stairs that way to the right." Thanks. See ya, Mad. * Threnody nods and takes his leave. Two down, one to go! * Rochelle stands and stretches. "You were kinda cool for a crazy old lady." * Rochelle heads on over to the stairs. <> <>
