[Day: Tuesday, July 6th. Time: 8:00 p.m.] [It's night time on the day you got back from the city. Chances are (being exhausted as you were), most of you spend the time between now and then at home sleeping. Everyone winds up at the MC room.] [Session Start] * Maria is sitting on the wall, looking thoughtful. * Lazar has his illusion back up, now that he's not playing the role of Delightfully Polite Servitor Golem, and is idly shadowboxing using the silver dagger he recently purchased off in a corner. * Asanjya is sitting in a desk, reading something with bright yellow text on the cover. * Maria hops off the wall and walks over to Asanjya. "Asanjya, your magic's based off contracts with demons and stuff, right?" * Chomei is leaning against his typical place against the wall. * Asanjya nods, not taking her eyes off the book. * Maria sighs. "Okay. Nevermind, then." * Maria walks over to Chomei. "Chomei, when you shoot fire arrows and stuff, that's all your bow, right? Or do you know any actual magic?" * Lazar practices slashing and stabbing from a few different stances, showing a surprising amount of flow for his lumbering form. I like to consider it talent more than anything. But it is not dependent on Rownal: any bow will work. * Rei opens the door and floats in. She's dressed as loudly as usual, though she looks a bit more subdued than usual. "Avast and evening, landlubbers. Back to wearing black, Chomei? Boo." * Maria grins. "Really? Can you teach me how to do stuff like that?" * Asanjya waves. Book too interesting. * Rei grins at Asanjya, then hops up onto a desk and pulls out BOX. She starts typing away. Why wouldn't I wear black, Rei? And I could. You already have a bit of a head-start to most people. * Asanjya turns the page with a hair-tendril. Because I thought Chie was breaking through your lameness. Breaking through! Alright! I'm gonna learn magic! * Rei shakes her fist. "I had such high hope- huh? Magic? Where?" * Lazar stops, waves to the entering Rei, then adjusts his grip on the knife so the blade is pointing down instead of up, and resumes his shadow-stabbing. * Maria points at Chomei. * Rei looks at Chomei. "I dunno, he looks as lame as ever. Are you sure something's magically possessing him? Do we need to take him to a witch doctor or something?" Nonono. He knows magic! He uses it to shoot things! * Chomei raises an eyebrow. "I still don't know if we have the time for me to teach you, though." Oh! Yeah, he does use magic to shoot things. ... What about it? He's gonna teach me-- what? You don't know if you have time? What ELSE are you doing? I mean, it's not like you gotta practice your lameness or anything, right? I mean, are you gonna be target practice or something? Because if you are, you need to get a big bullseye painted on your chest and back, and then maybe lots and lots of protective equipment, 'cause it's bad for your health, and- oh. Hey, she's right. That's like you got a *job* or something. Do you even know how to use a *normal* bow? * Maria blinks. "Do I have to know how to use a bow?" Yes. ...aww. * Rei giggles. "You wanna learn magic, Maria?" * Maria sighs. "Nevermind." Maybe Asanjya can teach you! She knows magic. Though it means summoning demons and asking them if they want to eat you or not, which can be kinda dangerous. * Maria nods. "Yeah, I do. And Asanjya's magic's all long-term contracts, and I *hate* those." Well, um. There's lots of ways to do magic. I mean, I bet Ensof, Chomei, and Asanjya all do it different ways. And Aunt Chelsea probably yet another way. Lots of ways. So just do some research on it and find a way you like... * Chomei nods. My... family's meathod of magic is mostly focused on a martial weapon. Or you can borrow the book the Prof gave to me for my birthday! It's called Unlocking Your Psychic Potential. I don't think it'd actually make you get psionics, but it's an amusing read. * Maria shakes her head. "Ensof only knows Jewish magic. But if your aunt can swing by here to teach me, that'd be cool." Ensof know more than Kabbalah magik, I think. * Maria turns to Chomei. "I don't suppose a fist would work?" I no even think it his specialty... just something he know something about. Doubt it. The initial training weapons need to be crafted to focus and provide the energy, so your body learns how to utilize it. * Rei goes back to her typing. * Asanjya turns the page. "The singular best part to the contractual magic is the eventual lack of death." If have time while trying to figure out where orb things is, maybe find Ensof, talk to, Maria. Even if he no have time to teach, might have books can read. * Maria shakes her head. "Nah, I talked to him already. He knows mostly Jewish magic, Laz." Really? *pauses* And no want learn Jewish magic? 2d6 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Rei (2d6) and gets 7. * Rei types away. "She's not Jewish. It'd offend her delicate sensbilities. Hey, here's a school of magic! Only it'd take four years to graduate." * Maria nods at Rei. Perhaps there is a correspondence course. * Rei peers at the screen, then types more slowly. Clack, clack. Peer. Clack. "Think I found you a teacher. Well, maybe. We can call and ask him, but he's probably busy." * Maria goes and looks over Rei's shoulder. Who do you have in mind? No need be Jewish to learn Jewish magiks. Ensof no Jewish. ...really? I thought you had to be a believer ans stuff? * Rei lets her; it looks like she's in the SIU database, and is scrolling through some files almost too quickly to read. "Weeeell, remember the team that filled in for us back when we had to go to China? And I thought Ensof is Jewish." Well, it nice. But Kabbalah magik like most other magik. You do ritual, follow rules, and get spells. * Lazar tilts his head. "He no look Jewish..." Yeah, I remember them. What about'em? Jewish in religion, not race. Two definitions. Anyway, where was I. Oh yeah. Matthias is a sorcerer. He could probably teach Maria a thing or two. Could. * Rei scrolls. "Looks like focused willpower based stuff. Nothing relying on weapons and gods and demons." * Lazar eyes Rei. "... no need explain Judaism to me. But point." I might reiterate that there is no relying on gods. *flip* But if no want complications what come with god-based magiks, Matthias be good option. Seem like nice guy. Okay. I'll find this Matthias guy, then. Where's he at? Hong Kong. * Rei fishes out her phone, dials a number real quick, and tosses it to Maria. "Think fast and talk slower!" ...oh. * Maria catches the phone without even trying, but looks absolutely dumbfounded. "Wh-what?" I'm not gonna ask him to teach you magic for you. You do it! It's probably rung by now, by the way. Better put it to your ear. * Maria puts the phone to her ear? * Chomei chuckles. Uhm, hello? Do you speak Japanese? Please tell me you speak Japanese. Uhm, hi, this is Maria. With the Mystery Club? You subbed for us recently, right? ( That is what Rei said, isn't it? ) (Yes. He subbed for us when we had to go to China. ;P) ( And meanwhile, Maria's theme is playing. ) [Meanwhile, a Kirby holding an envelope appears on Rei's screen and yells (loudly) "Eeeeeeeeeee-mail!"] Uhm, er, well, I'm looking into learning magic, and Rei says you can teach me. I think? ... That is frightening. * Maria jumps and almost hits the cieling when the Kirby yells. Hey, it's not my fault! I'd have Kirby do the e-mail dance, myself. * Rei hits some hotkeys, getting to her e-mail. [Kirby does the e-mail dance, then opens the mail] * Lazar puts away his knife, and moves over towards the others. * Rei grins. * Asanjya turns the page with a tendril. "Anything interesting?" * Lazar lumbers over to Asanjya. "No suppose you find anything on location of orbs?" I have not looked, as of yet. I am endeavouring to return to a calm state of mind before making pacts with demons. ... that sound like good plan. Otherwise the city we so recently vacated might find itself suddenly lacking the ability for its atoms to maintain coherency. ... that sound like bad plan. Tempting, but bad. True. It lacks charm, for one. Attacking with horde upon horde of imps forty years from now is much better, from a literary standpoint. *flip* Training exercises? Uhm... would I have to go to Hong Kong for this? * Lazar sighs. "Et'Ada was extremely annoying people. Almost as bad as French." *pauses* "Smell better, though." * Maria winces. What kind of something? I wouldn't know. I've never been to France. * Chomei shrugs. "Do they have good bread?" Think so. But I can hardly imagine they would cause me to want to destroy the entirety of their culture. * Maria winces again. ... of course they could. They French. Yeah, really. Remind me not to get you mad at me. ( You don't want to destroy the French. ) ( They're the main characters of MC3 ) I would not be too worried. It takes a lot. (All the more reason to kill them.) Just saying. Is generally bad plan to get on bad side of woman what summon demons in spare time. * Maria frowns. "Okay, thanks." * Rei looks at her computer quizzically for a moment before typing some more. What's up Maria? * Maria holds up a finger. * Rei speaks up absently: "Hey, Asanjya. You wouldn't know if that ritual that can cut off the Star Orb's power would also made the Blood Orb and Moon Orb active, would you?" ( "Well fuck you too!" "... not that finger." "... oh." ) * Asanjya blinks. Right. 'Bye. I am not sure. I will check. * Maria hangs up. * Asanjya pulls out her mouldy tome and plops it open. * Maria hands the phone back to Rei. "He doesn't know, he'll have to check with the high-ups, and squeeze me into his schedule if he can." Hm. As I understand it, they are always on. So to speak. I need to find someone here in Tokyo, really. Ah well. * Rei takes the phone back and tucks it away. "Right, okay. So then they only affect whoever possesses it and who they desire?" * Rei blinks, then looks over at Maria. "Well, maybe he'll come over and help! Besides, we might be going traveling soon. Um, again." She thinks. "Again again again." Grin. "Life of an international agent not-spy!" * Grydlish is now known as Grysar * Maria frowns. "Yeah." Don't get like that. He probably wants to help! I remember him being a pretty nice guy and all. In meantime, maybe Asanjya have book or two can read, just to get handle on basics? Anyway, guess who got an e-mail. I did! But you knew that. * Maria nods. "What's it say?" * Rei types away, her attention once again BOX-absorbed. "Spikey says he thinks he knows where the Moon Orb is." Remember Spikey? He's one of those guys we thought hijacked BOX but didn't really and then I threatened to haunt him if he didn't give me his e-mail address. Interesting. Hey, does anyone know where Chie is? Uhm, yeah. * Asanjya wordlessly withdraws a book from her cloak and hands it to Maria. * Maria looks at the book. "Uhm, thanks! Does this stuff work?" I dunno. Sleeping? She was really tired after we got back. Anyway, apparently Ye Olde Moone Orbe is in the possession of Ricardo Kalifornia, and if we don't take care of him, standard Interpol would love to. To a degree. It's more about the theory of magic rather than any practical kind of use. ... who is Ric- Ricoda- that guy? Who? * Maria stuffs the book into her backpack. * Rei types away. "A disgustingly rich drug dealer who's managed to avoid getting tossed in jail by being a citizen of a tiny island nation." I'll want that back, Maria. Ah. Drug dealer. Bad guy. *pauses* He have lots of henchmen with sunglasses and guns? I dunno if they have sunglasses and guns, but I bet he's got guards and stuff. * Rei sounds a bit more excited now. "He lives in the Republic of Nauru. Know where that is? It's a bit off of Australia. Eight-mile long island. Approaching by sea's pretty dangerous, but we probably won't want to do that anyway. One airline flies there." 2d6+1 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Rei (2d6+1) and gets 10. Sure, Asanjya. By sea is bad, yes. 2d6-2 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Rei (2d6-2) and gets 3. Aaaand it looks like he's a werewolf, too. Maybe it was a tainted needle or something. ... plus, I think we establish that boats no favorite of group. The thing we're gonna need to watch out for is he's got the law on his side there. I mean, he really does. We can probably get Interpol to help smooth things over legally, but this guy pretty much runs the island. * Maria giggles. "What, we have to watch out for the law now?" Oh, that's great. On the plus side, once he is removed, it would make an excellent summer home. That is a bonus. When you can cause an international incident... ha! Just don't live in the center. Nobody lives in the center. Sounds like beginning of plan. Call regular Interpol, get things arrainged? * Chomei nods. Rei, you said he was a werewolf, right? Yup. And he's got the orb, which means if he's using it, he can transform whenever he wants. So stock up on silver. Or take him out before he can react and transform. * Rei nodnods. She's back to typing away. Silver... I wonder if anyone makes silver knuckles? I bet Ensof's got the stuff. * Lazar holds up his silver knife. Could ask Moe. If anyone's got that non-standard stuff, he probably does. * Chomei looks over at Lazar. "Or Moe. Yeah Lazar?" We got silver knives at Moe, remember? Check it out! They got free dental there. Cool. I'll have to go ask. Soon. Free dental? That's nice. Maybe I can go buy a set of silver knuckles with all the money Interpol's been paying me. I wonder if I can even afford it with that. * Chomei shrugs. "I'll see about devising something to handle werewolves. If all-else fails, though, I can just go buy some silver arrows." Remember, can hurt werewolf without silver. Just will heal, and no can kill. Can no heal wounds given with silver, and only wounds from silver can kill. We're looking to do something more permanent than unconciousness, aren't we? And I'm very aware of what werewolves can regenerate from. Ohhh. So I don't really need silver, then. I'll just hit him a lot and then whoever has silver can do whatever. I dunno if more permanent is necessary or not. This'd be a lot easier of there were laws about werewolf rights, but I think as stands we shouldn't kill the guy. Jail, sure, but not kill. * Asanjya turns a page. "Depends on how irritating he proves. Is very hard to subdue werewolf. Especially if can turn into werewolf whenever want. How about we take the orb away and then he can't do that anymore? We need to find the orb, then. I don't know if he'd keep it in an easy-to-see place. * Rei looks up from the computer to Lazar, then Asanjya. "Hey, do you know how big it is?" Doesn't matter where he keeps it. If it hides it well, we'll just have to look longer. * Lazar rubs his head. "Then again, Interpol get us in. If they want alive, we try to get alive." About the size of a baseball. Werewolves bad. Drug dealers worse. But though probably deserve die, it not like *need* kill. An eye for an eye makes everyone wear piratey eyepatches and have parrots and sometimes seeing-eye dogs. I thought you'd think that was a good thing. * Lazar looks back at Rei. "No saying I no believe in eye-for-eye. Just saying this guy never poke me in eye." The parrots are a good thing! Seeing eye dogs require training. This could cause more jobs, though, so maybe. It's bad for general depth perception, though. * Maria shrugs. "He's poked enough people to get rich off 'em." Really rich, from what Rei said. Maybe he's got nice things we'll find while looking for the moon orb. * Rei snickers. "Yeah, maybe. So, think we should talk to Interpol about what they want to do with this guy, and the SIU branch, and maybe arrange a trip over there?" ...Asanjya, how many nice things can that cloak of yours hold? Sounds like plan-type thing. * Rowyn has quit IRC (Ping timeout ) Several. * Maria grins. I can see where this is going. What? It's not like he needs this stuff, right? * Lazar shrugs. "Torah say 'No steal'... but you no Jewish, so no make covenant with god, so no really apply to you." *pauses* "So I no have problem with idea." *grins* * Maria grins back. "Thanks, Laz!" I'm okay with it. As long as you give me a cut. ~_^ * Asanjya stands up and tucks her book into her cloak. "I think I am sufficiently calm. I will attempt to find the other orb." Besides, he drug dealer. *pauses again, thinking* Should probably donate part to charity. Balance out... what word... karma? * Rei blinks, looks a bit surprised, then says, "... Yeah, balance out the bad karma. I like that idea." That sounds cool. * Asanjya nods, then sweeps out the door! I no Buddhist, but figure, just in case, no hurt to keep karma on right side. * Maria shrugs. "I'm just a thief. I'll take his valuables and see they're put to better use." ... that remind me. Still want golem to tag along with you for nights, little one? Uhm... prolly a good idea. * Rei twitches her tail and goes back to her typing. * Lazar nods. [End!]
