[Rei is inside. There is noise! Noise of the prisoners making an uproar. She sees dozens of guards roaming the halway with flashlights, checking each cell individually. Incidently, it's a woman's prison, so the inmates and police are all female.] ( Gimme a hearing roll! ) [Rei does, however, hear one man. The warden is holding a conversation with him: "I'm sorry this had to happen during your visit Lt. Hasegawa, but I wouldn't worry; we've got people working on the generators right now; they should be up shortly." The man impatiently says, "Not soon enough. Where is the cell of prisoner Minami Kurasaka?"] * SpiritRei perks, and then she zips over there to look. [Rei can't really make them out with just their flashlights, but Lt. Hasegawa is a tall figure in a trenchcoat. The woman is short, and as wide as two Reis standing side by side. "You really are obsessed with her." "I won't let her use this as an opportunity to escape. Take me to her cell." "Very well, we've got her in our maximum security ward. This way." They start walking.] * SpiritRei tags along. At the very least, this ward should be where Maria's held. [Rei follows them. They head to the back of the prison, and then down a flight of stairs.] * SpiritRei keeps following. Down the stairs! [Once down there, they come to a decent-sized room with a guard station. Between two desks is a large, thick door with a number of locks on it. "The ward is just beyond here."] "Excellent. Let me inside." "I'm sorry, Lieutenant, but under the circumstances, nobody is allowed inside there." * SpiritRei floats to the other side, getting a good look at the lieutenant. "She'll escape." * SpiritRei mutters, even though nobody can hear her. ~Oh, *there's* a good idea. Open it up so they can't escape.~ "We're under ground with a ton of steel between the surface and here. The only way out is through this door. We're quite confident she'll be trapped." * SpiritRei idly feels through the guy's clothes, into his pockets. Anything unusual? [The Liutenant scowls. "Then we'll do it this way." He draws a stungun from his pocket and jabs it in her neck. The two guards move for their guns, but he raises his other hand. There's a small sound of something being fired, and the guards slump to the floor with needle-like objects sticking from their shoulders.] * SpiritRei acts, pulling all the objects from the guy's pockets and having them fall to the floor as he pulls his gun. [As he does, stuff falls out; more of those needles, his wallet, and some kind of cross between a syringe and a knife. He grumbles and picks them up.] * SpiritRei forms a white light, right then. She raises it to the guy. ~Don't move,~ her voice says, clearly in his mind. [He ignores it, heading to the guards. "Oh, please. Like you can do anything to stop me, Rei."] ~Gee, I dunno.~ * SpiritRei flings the ball forward, practically point blank. ~Disco Nova!~ [Rei strikes the guy, bowling him over. He sits up glaring angrily. "You know, I only came here for one person, the so-called 'Maria.' But now?" He jabs the syringe into the warden. "Now you've got another death on your hands. You don't learn, do you?"] * SpiritRei grits her teeth, then she gives a scream right into his brain, rushing him and trying to just pin him down. ( Wrestling roll! ) [Rei grabs hold of him! He struggles with nothing, and they roll around on the floor a lot.] * SpiritRei rolls, and holds him as best she can with her telekinesis. ~The hell do you want with her anyway, huh?~ [He smiles. "Okay, you got me. Guess it's time to use the big guns." He says a word Rei doesn't quite understand, and a big, four-eyed, metallic skinned lizard monster bursts from the ground. It's so big that it barely fits in the room.] "Not the best place for this guy, but he'll do his job. So, you gonna let me up, or do we start killing more people?" ~Fuck *you*. If I let you up, you'll kill more people anyway.~ "You have my word. Only one person needs to die tonight." ~Tell me why.~ [He smiles and points as best he can. "The one on the left is Yoshiko Kitamura. She's got a husband and three kids. The youngest just entered high school, the oldest is graduating college in December." And then the other. "Hikaru Masakawa. She's planning to quit in four weeks because she wants to be at home for her son. Which would you like to die first?"] "You have five seconds to decide." * SpiritRei stares at him. ~Call off the lizard. If you have him make a move, you'll be the one who's dead.~ "And without me, it'll go on a rampage and kill whatever it sees. Four." ~Maybe I'll take that chance. How can I trust a killer?~ "Yeah. You don't seem to have any problem letting other people die, do you? Three." ~If I don't have a problem, why the hell are you even talking to me about this?~ "Why not? I want to kill people; you don't mind. You shouldn't even be trying to stop me. Two." * SpiritRei shifts, trying to keep him pinned, then reaches over and practically jams a telekinetic fist in the guy's mouth, as a gag. (Is there a roll for that? I mean, he can't see her doing it.) ( Ummm. ) ( Seeing as it's never come up.... ) ( I'll say a wrestling roll. But with his hand free, he'll get a chance to escape. ) [Rei moves to do that, but Touji (that's his first name if you've forgotten) senses his free hand and moves quickly, breaking free of Rei's grip. He points his arm (which Rei can now see has something wrapped around the wrist) at one of the guards. "That's better. By the way, do you know what an overdose of tranquilizer can do to a body? It's not pretty. Permanent damages and such."] "And by the way, I didn't actually inject the warden with the poison. I told you I only came here to kill one person tonight." * SpiritRei sits on/in him. ~Which person would that be?~ "Who do you think?" ~You know killing's against the law, right lieutenant?~ [He starts searching the guards, keeping his hand pointed at them as he does so. "This is an exception."] "Besides, it's not like you've never killed anyone." * SpiritRei hovers right along, astral hand closed around his real one. ~I haven't, I don't think. So, what about before? Haven't you killed lots of girls before this one?~ ~Burned their faces off, used acid, made threatening phone calls... well, that last one didn't *actually* kill anyone, I don't think.~ [He searches the guards, coming up with a key from one. "Yeah, you're right. Couldn't leave the cops any clues."] ~So, that's definitely more than one woman. What's your beef with her, anyway?~ He moves to the other, searching her. "You of all people ought to know. You hunt monsters. She's one."] ~Then why don't you kill your lizard friend?~ He shrugs as he comes up with the other key. "Why should I? It's in my control. And if it dies, so what? I can get another. It's just a tool." ~I bet it appreciates being thought that way. Heeeeey, so what about all those women you killed? They were human.~ He laughs. "No they weren't." ~Really? What were they?~ [He starts unlocking the door. "You're smart. Use your head."] * SpiritRei reaches over and tries to materialize her 'hand' before he puts his key in the lock. [Rei does. As a response, he fires a bolt into one of the guards. "Move."] "Next time, it'll be a lot more than one." * SpiritRei reaches over and tries to close her hand on the bolt-thing, applying all the pressure she can and probably breaking it. And, uh. Maybe his wrist. ( Um. Body roll. ) [Rei tries that, but it doesn't work; he moves his arm and fires a few more. "I said I didn't want to kill anyone else, not that I won't." He points the gizmo towards the other guard. "You want to try that again, or are you done?"] (How'd he know I did it? Oh, probably felt.) ( Yeah. ) [He waves his arm. "Move."] ~How can you claim you care about these people when you bargain their lives against hers? That's *why* you're hunting the 'monsters', right? Because you care about them?~ ["Did I say I care?" He gestures towards the monster, which lowers it's head full of pointy teeth to the warden. "Last chance."] * SpiritRei lets out a faint squeak. She very, very slowly begins to phase. He can feel his key give way. [He smirks, "That's better." and puts the key in.]
