* Togo climbs up to the roof! [Togo finds himself easily: Mariah's sitting with her legs hanging over the side of the roof. A normal person might be terrified, but she seems fine with it. If she notices Togo, she gives no indication; her eyes (or lack thereof) are focused on the horizon.] * Togo climbs up onto the roof, and starts walking over. "Hey me." [She turns her head just enough to see him. "Hey. I figured something like this happened." She speaks with a slight but noticeable Japanese accent.] * Togo sits down next to himself. "Sorry about the crappy view from in there." [She nods. "It's not much of one, I have to admit."] I tried to keep your body in decent shape, but I got hit by some kinda spectral ball-and-chain thing, so you might be a bit sore when you get back in. * Togo pauses. "Oh, and I used both your bombs. Hope you can get more..." [Mariah nods. "Same here. I gave your guns to Justinius, by the way."] * Togo blinks. "All of them? You figured out the trenchcoat pretty well, then." [She nods. "I'm a quick learner. Figured out these fast, too." She points at the shades.] Hope it didn't freak you out too much at first. Was... a bit unsettling for me when I first woke up to it. [Mairah pauses to collect her thoughts, then decides to admit, "I can't say it was one of the moments I ever wanted my friends to see me in."] [She turns to face Togo fully. "How can you live like this on a day to day basis?"] * Togo turns toward Mariah, a neutral expression on his face. "Was a coupla years where I couldn't live with it. Was borderline suicidal, outta-control angry, and came dangerously close to writing bad poetry about the futility of life." [She chuckles shortly.] Then... I dunno. I just learned to deal with it. I'm blind. More dramatically than most blind people, more painful, and a helluva lot nastier looking... but, in the end, just blind. And I could live with that. * Togo grins slightly. "Does put one helluva damper on my social life, though." [Mariah nods. "I would imagine." Slowly she removes the shades, and Togo, for the first time ever, can see just what kind of ugly mess is beneath them. "But still I'd hate to go though life like this."] * Togo winces. "Jesus..." *falls silent for a moment* "I hate it. Really, really hate it. But it's the only body I have." [She laughs. "Funny story about that. For the longest time I wished that was the only body I'd had, too."] * Togo smirks audibly, however that works. "'sides, you have it pretty tough too. Living in a ridiculously amazing body like this... must be tough." [Mariah shrugs, putting the shades back on. "I don't know about that. I used to hate it. Even planned suicide once, after I did everything I wanted to." She smiles as she turns her gaze back to the horizons. "But it's different now. I'm glad I survived."] Lady, this may be the fact that I haven't actually seen a woman in years talking, but lemme tell ya, ridiculously amazing doesn't begin to cover it. *pauses* And the wall climbing is pretty nifty too. [She smiles. "I never really thought about it that way. It's always been just something I could do."] ["I'm Mariah, by the way. If you don't already know."] Togo. *pauses* Tobias, actually, but nobody's called me that in years. ["Which would you prefer?"] * Togo shrugs. "Togo's my professional name. But seeing as how you've inhabited my body for a good while now..." *smirks* "... call me Tobias." (He is so hitting on himself.) ( Well, if not for the horribly repulsive eyes thing, he'd be pretty hot. =P ) [She nods. "Very well, Tobias."] Could you do me a favor and grab a Badass Bar from my coat? I'm starved. [Mariah does just that. "These things are pretty damn good."] s'part of the Grim Badass' Anonymous therapy. Hard to maintain that Grim Badass persona when you're always munching on a candy bar. "Really? I know a woman who can do it. Naomi Kusanagi. I'll intorduce you if you're ever in Hong Kong."] * Togo grins. "And undo two-plus years of therapy? I probably shouldn't." [She nods. "Suit yourself."] * Togo munches on a Badass bar. "Mmm, angsty." *swallows* "What the heck is this suit made of, anyway? It seems familiar, like I heard about something similar somewhere sometime, but I can't place it." ["It's called kelvar. It's kind of like kevlar, except better suited for stealth. As you can imagine, my abilities usually lead me to take that role with our team."] * Togo nods. "Yeah. I'm not exactly Mr. Stealth, what with the grenades and the rocket launcher, but I ended up in that role while we were in that fucked-up dimension with the giant bull guy whose name I can't remember." [Mariah frowns. "Moloch. We've dealt with him before."] Yeah. Him and some lady named Lix... ["Hmm... Doesn't ring a bell. But Dante's our demonologist."] [She looks upwards as she recalls memories. "Moloch... He was one of the two overlords supporting the demon lord Asmodeus."] Which means my instinct not to get into a fistfight with him was a good one. Good to know I can still trust my gut. * Togo rubs his neck. "Several years as a blind man has put some rust on my hand-to-hand skills." [She nods. "Can't say I'm exactly the martial arts expert myself... Although you might say I am, in a way... Anyhow, I don't know how we managed, but we defeated Asmodeus just after he came through. I figured that would end their plans, but..." she frowns. "It sounds like they may be out for more than just revenge."] When in doubt, it's an impending apocalypse. Especially if Asahara's involved. [She laughs. "Yeah." At that name Mariah shudders, though very slightly. She looks back at Togo. "I don't know, they're all but gone now." She frowns. "Mostly."] They're making a comeback, led by the former head of their American and European branches. *pauses; scowls* Who burned out my eyes after a group I was with took out just about every lab head in the US. [She frowns. "I'm sorry."] [Mariah continues. "I did hear about it. I thought there were no survivers, however. Well... except for You-Know-Who."] * Togo nods. "Officially, there were no survivors. Unofficially... there's me." [Mariah nods. "It's more serious than anyone realizes. Dr. Akira Shibamura is with him."] Doctor who? ( If Doctor Who is with them, we're really screwed. ) ["Akira Shibamura. He's one of the scientists that supported Lin Kar Lau until the latter's death twenty years ago." She scowls. "He's a sadist. Loves taking live specimens and performing experiments on them."] [She pauses, then adds, "I have a bit of a history with him. But as much as I hate to admit, he's also a genius."] Ah. Not familiar with him, but I'll run his name by some scientist friends of mine. *grins a bit* I can shoot him a few times if I run into him, if you want. [She frowns. "He's harder to get a hold of than you think. Part of the reason we came to England was to find him. He's somewhere in Europe. No doubt he's supporting the self-proclaimed leader of what's left of Asahara."] ["But, if we can take him out of the picture, Asahara will inevitably crumble. The leader doesn't have the ability to keep the company running like Lin Kar Lau did."] * Togo nods. "Asahara always was annoyingly good at hiding itself. At least back in the US." ( The man without a name! ) ( Figured Togo wouldn't have known his name when I wrote the background. That or I was too lazy to come up with a name. Can't remember which. ) [She nods. "Everyone in the conglomerate is. It's not just Asahara. Before them was Dairoba. And Zunkuft has some secret departments they don't want made public. There's more than that, too: an entire cartel."] ( I kinda like it this way ^^ ) ["Not only that, but we have a theory that the Russian government is working on their own secret projects."] [She chuckles. "So much evil in the world...."] Which is why I carry so many guns. And you have no idea how much ammo I have stashed in that coat. [She chuckles. "Well... It's not like we're not making progress. Asahara's infrastructure was shattered years ago. We'll just take apart what's left, bit by bit. And yes I do. I'm you, remember?" Point taken. * Togo finishes off his badass bar. "We should prolly go check on the others before they switch bodies back without us." [Mariah nods. "Yeah. Meet you down there." She gets up and jumps off-- er, starts towards the stairs down.] * Togo climbs down, thankful that Mariah remembered which body she was in. [End!]
