[Day: Saturday, Oct. 27th Time: 2:30 p.m.] [You're on a plane, enroute to Lithuania! Where in Lithuania is a good question, as all you have to go on are latitude and longitude numbers. The other team is headed to the Vatican to protect the Rosetta Stone; there may be a traitor in the clergy.] (A plane? Fuck, I hate planes.) [Maybe more will come to light soon. Maybe not. I gotta afk.] [Session Start!] (We get a private plane, or are we crammed in with passengers or what?) ( Ah, sorry. It's a military-grade plane. ) * Ashley is sitting in a plane seat, holding a carafe of coffee and sipping from a mug that reads "SOOPAR HAWT!!!!3". He's in a light blue collarless suit with a white shirt, and sunglasses. * Herman is also sitting, though not next to Ashley. There's a shock. He's listening to some music or another and bobbing his head once in a while. * Lukas is working on his computer, duh. * Khalil sits uneasily in his seat looking out the window. There's a book on his lap that he was reading earlier on British History, but he didn't last long in studying it. * Alys is sitting and reading a Batman graphic novel. She hums bits and pieces of the cartoon's theme song occasionally. * Herman doesn't have to listen to Alys' humming! He wins. * Ten is belted into the seat next to Lukas, and it's bending one of her wings at a funky angle, but at least she won't go bouncing round the airplane if there's any turbulence. Today's outfit is BLUE! Blindingly so. Evidently she's been taking lessons from Ashley. * Togo is laying back in his seat, nursing a bottle of painkillers. He hasn't said much so far on the flight. * Lukas sighs slightly and rubs his temples, leaning back slightly. "Fucking Asahara files," he mutters. * Khalil winces slightly and turns back forward, reaching underneath him. "These seats are not at all comfortable." * Ashley sips coffee. Not supposed to be, they're airplane seats. Yes. Now imagine that while sitting on your tail. * Lukas adds in a sullen tone, "Military, no less." * Alys winces and keeps reading. * Ashley nudges Alys. "Is the Dark Night conquering?" * Khalil finally manages to pull out from under him and shift his position again. 2d8-6 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Ten (2d8-6) and gets a natural 11 for a result of 5. * Alys grins. "Of course he is, he's Batman." * Khalil looks over at Alys, intrigued. The TV show was so much better. Adam West was a dramatic genius. Military or not, the altitude is killing me. * Khalil glances at Togo, quirking his head. "Altitude?" Really? I liked the cartoon a lot. The Adam West version was just too... I couldn't stand Robin being so stupid. Burt Ward needed to be a comedic foil for the intensity and sheer awesomeness of West's performance. ( What do you want for a hundred year old TV show? ) It was his sacrifice to make. Altitude. When Valmont burnt out my eyes, he fucked up my sinuses pretty well too. Change in air pressure is giving me one HELL of a sinus headache. Meh. Still like the first cartoon better. * Herman looks at the others and pulls his plugs from his ears. "What are you people talking about?" Adam West: dramatic genius! Yes or no? Batman! * Khalil nods and stretches. "I haven't really flown much myself. Inside a plane, that is. Not much reason when you can yourself. * Lukas frowns, but isn't involved in the argument. Is it safe to take off our seatbelts right now? I truly need to stretch. Prolly. I doubt we're gonna face anti-aircraft fire going into Lithuania. * Khalil eyes Togo. "You certainly know how to make a journey cheerful." He takes off his seatbelt and stands up. ( We can actually land when you're ready ) I'm ex-military. We're on a military plane. It brings back memories. Memories stay inside your head for a reason. My tremendously thick skull? * Lukas says with a note of bitterness, "Because the gods think it's funny." * Togo knocks on his head for comedic effect, and winces hard. "Ow. Bad idea." * Ashley sips coffee. * Khalil stretches for a bit, as he said he would, before returning to his seat. Sounds like your skull's not that thick, Togo. Oh, it is. Just my brain's a bit sensitive to jostling at the moment. * Alys says absently, "Mmm, brains." ... you've been hanging with Penny too much. Once is too bloody much. Cat nearly puked in my beer. * Herman puts his earphones back in. (Sounds like landing time.) ( Yuppers ) ( Aight! ) [After some time passes, you land in the small airport of the medium sized town Didzlasalis. Yep, Didzlasalis, the closest town to the Russian border. The coordinates lead a little east from here.] ( Wouldn't east lead into Russia? ) (Yes) (But not crossing the border.) (Just coming close enough to be annoying.) ( 'kay ) (Ten and I were just having this discussion.) ( Yep, they're right on the Russian border. ) ( Anyhow.... Can I assume you'll rent a van? ) (No, we're going for snowmobiles and parasails. ;p) ( Unless someone has a burning desire to RP the rental of a van and driving through town.... ) (I am not alight.) (YES) (*sets Lukas on fire* There.) (I WILL REQUIRE IT POSSESS A CD PLAYER) (I'm fine with skipping all of that. :P) (AND WE WILL LISTEN TO ROXETTE) (Actually my desire is modestly dry iceish.) ( Who's driving? ) (Me.) (Alys!) (We'll wrestle for it.) (I nominate Ten.) (In mud/jello) (I win either way!) (I'm the designated driver.) (Because you all suck.) (I ROCK.) (I can keep my car going.) (Woo! Everything I know about driving I learned from GTA39!) [You rent a van. We'll say Lukas is the driver because he actually has driving skills. Then you head east! Going is pretty hard, especially since there doesn't seem to be any roads along the way. But gradually you make it to an area that looks like it's been used multiple times, and frequently.] ( Now's when you finally get to do something! Gimme hearing checks! +4 ) 2d8-2 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Togo (2d8-2) and gets a natural 9 for a result of 7. 2d8+4 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Alys (2d8+4) and gets a natural 8 for a result of 12. 2d8+4 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Ten (2d8+4) and gets a natural 10 for a result of 14. ( I suppose I should mention you're driving through a forest. Woo ) 2d8+2 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Lukas (2d8+2) and gets a natural 8 for a result of 10. 2d8+2 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Khalil (2d8+2) and gets a natural 5 for a result of 7. 2d8+4 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Ashley (2d8+4) and gets a natural 12 for a result of 16. ... something's coming closer from out to the left of us. * Khalil peers out the window. "I hear it too." 2d8+4 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Herman (2d8+4) and gets a natural 13 for a result of 17. Can't make out what it is... thumping kinda sound. Like...a steady thump. [There's muchh trees in between you and it] * Ten presses her face to the left window, but doesn't fog it up due to her lack of breathing. * Ashley hugs his coffee carafe. * Lukas frowns and glances to the left a split second, then back forward to the road. * Togo holds out a pair of binoculars. "Someone wanna take a look?" Me, me! [You all begin to hear the noise, too. It sounds mechanical, and is getting closer by the second.] * Alys takes the binoculars and looks out the window. [Alys sees trees!] ...I cannot change in here. I really hope it's not the trees we're hearing. 'Cause that'd be creepy. * Herman peers. Mechanical trees would .... truthfully not shock me. Treants I think you call them? Pretty sure they'd be magical. Golems then. That so doesn't sound magical. 2d8+6 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Alys (2d8+6) and gets a natural 8 for a result of 14. Like, I think it's a big bot, but I dunno. Robot... crap. We do *not* want to be caught fighting some kinda attack robot in this thing. [It's not the trees! The source of the noise makes itself known when a large bipedal bot crashes through the trees and onto the road just behind you. Almost immediately it turns and starts to chase after you.] Waah! I was right! Holy crap! That's new. ( Lesse.... I'm not going to bother with init since you're all in the van. Just do one action at a time :P ) ... Least it's not a bloody tree. * Lukas says quickly, "Fuck. Someone take the wheel." ( And Lukas, gimme a driving roll! ) 2d8-3 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Lukas (2d8-3) and gets a natural 8 for a result of 5. 2d8-5 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Ten (2d8-5) and gets a natural 15 for a result of 10. [The bot fires a small missile from its shoulder. It misses the van, but impacts with a tree a little ahead of you. However, thanks to Lukas's timely maneuvering, the tree doesn't crash into the van and kill you all dead then and there.] Waaaaah! ...I'd like to try and drive, but even I don't trust myself to do it when there's a giant robot chasing us. * Lukas swerves and says, "Fuck, I can't disable the bot AND drive, people!" Stop the car. We're sitting ducks in this thing, and I can't use my heavy weapons! ...well this is a situation I never thought I would see myself in a year ago. * Ashley clutches the coffee carafe tighter. "Worth a shot..." * Herman scrambles to the front and grabs the wheel. "I'll bloody do it, but you'd better take it out damn fast." [The bot unleashes a hail of bullets from the gattling gun that is its left arm. Most of them hit the trees harmlessly, but... Lukas, ranged def roll!] 2d8-3 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Lukas (2d8-3) and gets a natural 11 for a result of 8. [A few of the bullets ricochet off the side of the van, but luckily don't do more than scratch the paint.] * Lukas lets Herman take the wheel and just looks backwards, muttering a quiet, "Fuck." * Togo kicks out the back window of the van, then pulls out his machine gun and fires a burst at the robot. We're invisible now, though it may not do us any good. 2d8-6 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Lukas (2d8-6) and gets a natural 13 for a result of 7. * Togo holds off on shooting for a moment when Ashley announces that, lest he give away their position. "Herman, pull us over somewhere if you can. I've got a LAW, but I can't use it in an enclosed space. ( Sure you can! It'd be funny! ) (NO BURNING THE TEN!) * Herman mutters, "Going to get us fucking killed." But he does as Togo requests, pulling to the side and coming to a near stop. Since when have we been in a situation where it has NOT looked like we were going to be killed? [The bot suddenly slows to a walk.] * Togo throws the door open and runs out, finding a tree to take cover behind as he pulls out his LAW. "Scatter and get some cover! Don't bunch together and give it a big target!" * Ten laughs at the bot. "OWNED!" [The bot sits there.] * Togo pulls out his LAW... and pauses. "Volt? What'd you do to it?" He DID tell you he would take care of it. I have the best uncle ever! * Ten looks at Lukas. "Can we keep it? Huh? Huh? Huh?" Ten. The giant killer robot is not a pet. * Lukas turns back to the wheel and grabs it. "As Ten said. Owned." Beat. "Fuck, Togo, you were the one whining about me not doing anything. Well, there you go. We'll decide on that on the way back, kiddo." ( If anyone wants to give me a military (hardware) roll, you can ) ( But it's not important ) Is it possible to zombify giant robots? ( Or is it? :O ) Yes. 2d8-3 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Togo (2d8-3) and gets a natural 8 for a result of 5. But it's tricky. (It's really the Vatican's new Killer Robot line.) Okay, then I'm with Ten on the keeping it thing. * Herman gets the hell out of the driver's seat. Well, Volt, I stand corrected... hmm. That's a Russian military bot. ( After it kills you it conducts a funeral for you. ) Kaay! Hope we didn't skip the border. 'An it's on the wrong side of the line! Any chance you or Ten can figure out where it came from? Hack into its memory or something? We do still have those coordinates, yesno? * Lukas is still driving. "Not anymore." Sorta far away now. Still got em! [The trail opens into a rather large clearing. Large and hecka empty.] How close are we? Like, almost there. Ditch the van in the woods for now, then. There! Here! Some thing now! Huhwha? * Lukas slows the van and pulls it aside, then stops. "Jesus, Ten, I heard you." We're here! [It's a wide open clearing! With nothing in it. Some rocks, a lone tree or two... No secret bases though.] We are...where exactly? Where Togo said we had to go, duh. So either it is invisible, underground, or a decoy. * Lukas smirks. "Yeah, we're analysis, not decision making." * Herman opens the door and gets out, looking around. * Khalil opens his side and steps out too. * Lukas doesn't step out, but he does open his door and sit sideways out the car. * Togo begins searching around the clearing... "I'm not gonna be much use searching... Ten, Volt, don't suppose either of you can detect comm signals that might be in the area?" Sec! * Ten listens. * Alys gets out of the car and stretches. * Togo puts away his LAW and pulls out his SMG, just in case. * Khalil looks about very carefully for any signs of anyone having been around here. 2d8-5 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Ten (2d8-5) and gets a natural 12 for a result of 7. Uh, Ashley? We're still invisible right? 'Cause they've got cameras an stuff all over. * Ashley looks around. "I think so." * Ashley takes a swig out of his carafe. Kaay, they're totally underground. So what, we need a bloody shovel? Gotta find where they hid the door! There must be an entrance somewhere. Underground means air vents, too. * Khalil looks at Togo. "You actually want us to crawl down air vents?" That's very movie cliche. Air vents are fun! You do realize that air is not human sized, yesno? Nobody ever remembers to bug them past the entrance and they go everywhere! * Lukas rolls his eyes. * Herman facepalms. Some are big enough. Some aren't. I've crawled threw a few that were. * Khalil just concentrates on looking. * Ten griiins up at Togo. "They're all my sized!" [Khalil sees trees. And some rocks.] You know. It is possible that the actual entrance is not exactly here. Try following where the cameras are pointing. There's got to be a few pointing directly at the entrance. 2d8-2 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Lukas (2d8-2) and gets a natural 8 for a result of 6. * Lukas waves his hands in the air, and then points at a rock. "Tada." Hahah, this is what I get for wishing my life were more interesting. Curse my cursing myself! You're awesome Lukas! I figured it would be a tree or a rock. ( Is it a big rock? Little rock? Even rocks with chicken pox love hot dogs... armor hot dogs... ) I mean. There is not much other choice. (Moderate-to-large!) [It's not the largest in the area.] Check it for alarms and sensors and death rays and the like. (Pretender is being insane.) Sensors and crap, yeah. ...death rays on a rock would be...interesting. With our luck, it's got two of them. That sounds like an idea Alys would cook up. And just what's wrong with putting death rays on a rock, huh? * Ten looks at Alys. "What else do they have? Huh?" It is like putting missile launchers on a teddy bear. Well, actually, it'd be better to have something that turns you into a fish when you touch it, but that's probably too expensive for the budget. ... I don't wanna turn into a fish! I like having hands! I'm not gonna touch anything! * Togo nods at Volt. "Do your thing, then." I believe it is more the "inability to breath air" that would hinder you. ( Okay. *starts doing the hustle* ... your other thing. ) I tend to like air. I don't think Ten needs to breathe, though. * Khalil folds his arms and waits for the sensors to go down. She might if she were turned into a fish. Sheesh. You'd think I were useful with all this. That sucked too! She could be a mechanical fish. With pretty shiny scales. * Lukas walks over, covered with Ashley!llusion. Oooh! Could I be a shiney mechanical fish with hands? That'd be awesome! Sure! But, you know, the rest of us would probably be screwed. That'd be bad. So don't tuch the thing that turns you into fish with hands, kay? Of course you're useful. We'd be at least 40% less cynical and half as sarcastic without you. Right, good idea. Are you sure we can't experiment? 2d8-8 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Lukas (2d8-8) and gets a natural 13 for a result of 5. Just like we would be 50% less morbid without you, Togo? But then we'd only be 12% as armed! [The rock vanishes, revealing a series of holograms and a keypad on a steel plate.] * Lukas continues walking. Keypads are fun! * Ten points. "Onward and downward!" Bah, I'm not morb- well, okay, I am. But I'm nowhere *near* as morbid as I was before I joined Grim Badasses Anonymous. * Khalil shrugs. "I do suppose you have your reasons." Back then, I was so bad I came dangerously close to writing bad poetry about the utter meaninglessness of existence. Oh, -ouch-. * Khalil would make a comment about emo now, but sadly doesn't know the meaning of the word. 2d8-8 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Lukas (2d8-8) and gets a natural 9 for a result of 1. GBA helped with that. Even got me wearing something other'n black. Black goes with anything, so I hear. But black's an awesome color! It goes with evy... Yeah! See? Khalil totally knows! [Lukas hacks the keypad, and the ground nearby tilts up, revealing a large metal door, which opens like an elevator. Beyond are stairs going down. As well as several men in uniform, carrying guns. One of them screams something in Russian, and they send a hail of bullets upwards. Lukas, gimme a ranged def roll!] * Khalil grins at Ten. 2d8-2 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Lukas (2d8-2) and gets 14, a CRITICAL FAILURE!!! "Maybe you should consider sacrificing some barnyard animals?" (I think that's a miss.) ( O.o ) (Wah! Lukas get perforated. o_O) (That's sorta his lot in life.) (Ack. o_o) [Lukas is caught completely flat-footed. Luckily for him, the troopers fired pretty much at random out the entrance, so he's only grazed a few times. Unluckily for him... Ouch.] ( Still conscious, though! ) Waah! Lukas! You've gotta heal him, Herman! * Khalil turns at the firing. "That does not sound... good." He runs over and tries to get him out of the way. * Lukas 's eyes widen as he gets shot up and he drops sideways, slightly, grunting in pain. "Fucking..." * Ten pauses a moment and then continues in a calmer and whinier voice. "Hey, how come they knew we were coming? The're not supposed to notice the bot got tricked!" [The men make their way out. Four of them, at least. Two remain to guard the entrence. One of them says something in what sounds like Russian. The one in the lead responds harshly, then says in English. "We know you are here. Show yourselves and turn yourselves in at once."] * Herman rushes over to Lukas and reaches down to pull him up with his free hand. He frowns at the guards. * Khalil pulls Lukas out of the fray first, eying the guards. ( How far are we from either group of guards? ) ( About ten-twenty feet? Lukas is closer. ) * Alys runs to Lukas and asks anxiously, "Are you okay, by which I mean, not in danger of dying? Because you're not allowed to. You aren't allowed to get shot anymore, either." ( The door isn't far from the keypad. ) Oh man, they got tipped off an everything! NOT FAIR! * Ten flails her arms. * Lukas gets pulled down/out/something! [The guards are wearing army uniforms with kevlar vests.] ( For the record. ) * Khalil creeps a bit away from Lukas as he pulls out his whip, crouched down low. Keep back. [He says again. "Show yourselves! This is your last warning."] Someone do something? Please? * Herman holds his hand up and starts chanting in Anglo-Saxon. Heat builds up around him. * Alys stays between the guards and Lukas. * Togo pulls out his light machine gun. "Get Volt to cover." *moves away from Herman; opens up with a burst from his machine gun to get their attention* ( Roll it! And then roll init. ) 2d8-3 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Togo (2d8-3) and gets a natural 12 for a result of 9. * Khalil sighs and mutters something in Arabic to himself. The word "Togo" is definitely part of it. 2d8+14 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Togo (2d8+14) and gets a natural 11 for a result of 25. 2d8+7 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Lukas (2d8+7) and gets a natural 9 for a result of 16. * WeightofTaki is now known as Ten 2d8+7 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Ashley (2d8+7) and gets a natural 9 for a result of 16. 2d8+7 2d8+13 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Ten (2d8+7) and gets a natural 10 for a result of 17. * Dicesuke throws the bones for Alys (2d8+13) and gets a natural 8 for a result of 21. 2d8+7 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Herman (2d8+7) and gets a natural 12 for a result of 19. 2d8+14 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Khalil (2d8+14) and gets a natural 8 for a result of 22. [Togo, Khalil, Alys, Herman, Ten, Lukas, Ashley, Guards] [Togo opens fire, wounding the two guards out front. One points in his direction.] [Khalil!] * Khalil whips out his whip from the other direction to disarm the nearest guard. That should be enough of a distraction, we hope. 2d8-2 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Khalil (2d8-2) and gets a natural 9 for a result of 7. [Khalil pulls the gun from the surprised guard's hands.] [Togo! Again] * Togo fires another burst at the same guards he hit before, trying to put them down before they have a chance to fire back. 2d8-3 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Togo (2d8-3) and gets a natural 12 for a result of 9. [And down they go!] [Alys! Four guards remaining!] * Alys moves up to the nearest guard and, still trying to stay between Lukas and any more danger, does her best to break some of the guard's bones. 2 2d8-2 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Alys (2 2d8-2) and gets a natural 9 for a result of 10 7. [There's a crunchy impact and a scream as Alys hits the guard in the chest. He staggers a little, raising his gun.] [Herman!] * Herman lets out a final word and flings a small ball of flame, sending it to land in between the largest cluster of guards he can, where it explodes outwards. (Full attack.) 2d8-5 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Herman (2d8-5) and gets a natural 12 for a result of 7. [That more or less turns the rest into crispy crisps.] There. * Khalil catches the gun in his off-hand as he yanks his whip back. "Impressive." Whaaaaooo. * Togo nods. I am so lame compared to that. * Togo tosses his medpak to Herman. "Save your magic and use this on Volt. I'll cover the entrance. No. Those wards have come in handy many times. You can still kick my ass, Ward Girl. * Herman takes the medpack. "Sure." He fiddles with it for a moment, then starts the pack to flesh application thing on Lukas. * Alys grins. "Thanks." Kaay, like, they said some doctor told them we were coming. An you totaly set them all on fire so we can't ask who it was. The sensors were completely down, correct? Too bad about that. But they shot Lukas so it kinda works out, you know? * Ten fidgets. * Togo keeps watch on the stairs, machine gun at the ready, while the others tend to Volt. * Lukas grits his teeth and says, "Seems to happen a lot." Not that German guy, is it? Wait, is he dead? It's getting hard to keep track of all the bad guys. Either way, they may be sending more to investigate. [The medpak heals Lukas! Somewhat. But damn he took a beating.] * Khalil edges a bit closer to the door and listens. [The door is wide open. And leads to stairs that go down!] * Herman keeps Lukas propped up. "Need help walking at all?" * Lukas shakes his head slightly, "No, I'm used to being near-fucking-dead by now. Fucking swear to god, I'd strangle..." then he trails off. * Khalil snorts a little and inspects the doorway, making sure it's safe before proceeding. * Ten skitters across the floor to see what's hiding behind the open door! [Session End]
