Advanced technology in MC3! Here's some of the stuff that does exist (and is known to the public). This file will probably be updated from time to time as I use stuff in game. This is of course only technology that's known to the public; top sekrit things are top sekrit and won't be listed. ------ Technology is only a small step up from the current. Most technological improvements in the last few years have been better versions of stuff that already exists, such as cars that run on less feul and cables capable of transmitting data faster. There's no energy weapons. There are a few futuristic things to notice, however: -Gunfire Sensors- Gunfire sensors are brand new, inexpensive devices that can be attached to telephone poles and street lights. They transmit a silent alarm to the police when they register a sound matching that of gunfire. This allows the police to respond very quickly. However, being brand new, they are not yet in widespread use. Hong Kong is the first country to embrace the device openly; it is not widely used in Europe, although recently some small cities in Ireland have begun using them. -Cybernetics- Cybernetics were created by Zunkuft, Inc., a German company known for its heavy machinery and robotics. These "cybernetics" are early models: They tend to be bulky mechanical body parts that are easily noticable as they can't be covered up with fake skin. They can supply superstrength or body armor and infrared vision, but things like computer hookups are not available. They are publically available (albeit for a very steep price), but usually only used by three types of people: Military, mercenaries and people who have actually lost parts of their bodies and seek to replace them; the cybernetics function far better than any prosthetics. -Holograms- Holograms and holocommunication also exist, although traditional phones tend to be used more. Holograms are easy to spot: they're faded and transparant, yet shimmering as well. Generally used by organizations more than individuals. -AI- It's possible to create AI capable of responding to a number of situations. However, AI is ultimately programmed and unable to evolved beyond its parameters, nor can it be programmed to do so. In other words, nobody has been able to create truely self-conscious AI at this time. -Bots- AI technology has been applied to robotics to create semi-intelligent mobile weapon platforms, known as bots. Bots are armored, armed constructions ranging from security grade to military. Through their AI they can be programmed with limited orders. However, bots are extremely expensive to construct and maintain, and thus are not widely circulated, even in the military.
